Well, you're missing the point, neither is an option. Particularly now with Russia attempting to make it the new Vietnam.

You mean , the Asscrapistan! Russia loves these wars, we don't.

We need to get friendly with Russia. In a subtle manner...

Being SOS is a job
you don't get accomplishments from having that job
It's not part of the job description

You get accomplishments from having multiple jobs

Russia loves these wars, we don't..

Russia does not love these wars, they always cause trouble down the road along their southern borders. Russia is only involved with Syria for it's lone Mediterranean port at Tartus and to f*#k with us which are somewhat one in the same.

We need to get friendly with Russia. In a subtle manner...

We under no circumstances should get 'friendlier' with Russia for any reason so long as Putin is in charge.

"Nothing we have done in Syria has helped."

Actually, we have calmly, without losing thousands of young men and women, knocked the sh#t out of ISIS, to the tune of thousands of their troops and billions of dollars of revenue, and half their territory. All while encouraging the people who live there to deal with them. Plus we have supported the Kurds better than the Bush administration did after Desert Storm.

Russia wants everybody to come home Mother Russia.

Let them have it. We should turn away.

Am I the only one on this forum who thinks politicians of both parties make mistakes? Just because an uprising takes place doesn't automatically call for U.S. intervention. We need to know how to make it better. Our record over the last fifteen years suggests that we're at least as likely as not to make it worse.

I think both parties make mistakes and lie. Philosopically I should come down slightly on the Rebublicans side, but they have been way more incompetent and dishonest by any measure I consider objective in the last 30 plus years so I find them much worse than the dems.

I'd take back our record of failure to Vietnam. Foreign policy as the worlds most just superpower is a quagmire. I liken it to seeing a parent abusing a kid. You'd like to stay out of it but you have a responsibility. And once you are involved it's a sh#t show.

And blue ring you are wrong about everything politically. You've got good taste in music though. The problem is you seem incapable of looking at things with an open mind and admitting you could be wrong about lots of things. You instead look for the most liberal pinkos as a straw man to reinforce what you need to believe. Sorry to single you out because most of the people that still support trump are like that too.

No, This all started with Bush's invasion of Iraq
Obama has very little to do with the mess that was created by Bush

If that invasion never happened, things would be a lot different now and for American foreign policy

So it was one side that created this, the Republicans
they lied us into that war, and they will not take any responsibility for the mess the created.

and they would make the mess even worse if we put them in charge again
so it's not both sides do it

one side does it
the other side cleans up the mess the side creates

Unfortunately we can't and Putin knows it. He's using Syria as much to destabilize the Turkey and the EU as anything else - it's a matter of keeping certain parties 'off-balance' in the geo-political sphere. He doesn't have a lot of cards in that respect so he's playing what cards he has and is helping China agitate in the Pacific for the same reason.

The media is biased. The education system is biased. Wikipedia is biased. The moderators are biased. Haha!

Do people who think everything is biased ever look in the mirror and think "you know maybe I'm biased?".

You are just wrong ! Iraq was stable - finally

Completely and utterly wrong. There was nothing whatsoever 'stable' about Iraq and the real war in Iraq and the greater ME wasn't going to start until we pulled out. And it didn't matter squat when we pulled out. Anyone with half a brain knew that was the case and it was widely predicted within intel/military/diplomatic services before we ever went in. It wasn't going to be dominos falling for democracy; it was going to be dominos falling into chaos across the ME. It wasn't rocket science then and it will take decades to dig out from those pre-emptive mistakes.

This started with Obama and Hillary trying to spread democracy post Arab spring !
Over throwing Libia and trying to over throw Assad !! It started in Syria with people we ARMED and spread to a weakened Iraq.

Nothing could be further from the truth.
