I've been diagnosed with hypoglycemia and I've not been able to get it under control. I don't like meat and especially detest the meat industry, the horrors poor animals is appalling.
So could use some guidance if anyone has suggestions.

Thank, karen

The most common cause of hypoglycemia is medications used to treat diabetes mellitus such as insulin, sulfonylureas, and biguanides.[2][3] Risk is greater in diabetics who have eaten less than usual, exercised more than usual, or have drunk alcohol.[1] Other causes of hypoglycemia include kidney failure, certain tumors, such as insulinoma, liver disease, hypothyroidism, starvation, inborn error of metabolism, severe infections, reactive hypoglycemia, and a number of drugs including alcohol.[1][3] Low blood sugar may occur in babies who are otherwise healthy who have not eaten for a few hours.[4]

which one is you?

doesn't seem like what your putting into your body is the crux. it's the input vs. output ratio..

Karen. Look into this as a start https://www.drmcdougall.com/health/education/health-science/common-health-problems/hypoglycemia/

So the answer seems to be yes, you can control hypoglycemia with a whole foods plant based diet. You can eat junk food and still call it vegan.

Can a person control hypoglycemia with a vegan diet? In a word, yes.

Here are a few resources you might consider:

Kiaser-Peranente is the nation's largest heath care provider. They conducted an independent review of the medical literature in 2013 and now encourage all of their physicians to discuss the benefits of plant-based diets with their patients, especially those with chronic diseases, including hypoglycemia:

Research shows that plant-based diets are cost-effective, low-risk interventions that may lower body mass index, blood pressure, HbA1C, and cholesterol levels. They may also reduce the number of medications needed to treat chronic diseases and lower ischemic heart disease mortality rates. Physicians should consider recommending a plant-based diet to all their patients, especially those with high blood pressure, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or obesity.

Michael Greger, MD runs a website called NutritionFacts.org. He presents a large body of information on vegan and plant-based diets -- all of which is scientifically-based. Here is an example about treating diabetes with diet you are likely to find encouraging:

John McDougall, MD is another physician who has been recommending plant-based diets for decades. He is also science-based. He calls the diet he recommends "starch-based", but this is simply a planet-based diet. He emphasizes starch--as in rice and potatoes--because he wants people to understand that potatoes are highly nutritious and good for you, despite the bad name they have gotten. He's a bit of an iconoclast and constantly takes the food and medical industries to task, but is solid in every respect (I know him personally). Here is what he says about hypoglycemia:

Recommendations, even from apparently well qualified dietary and medical professionals, to eat a high protein diet are outdated and should be disregarded, not only because they have very little chance of relieving symptoms, but because of the dangerous amounts of the damaging components in the recommended foods–cholesterol, fats, and excess proteins.

A starch-based diet will quickly relieve the disorder and its symptoms. In fact, this disease is so closely tied to the wrong diet (excessive fats, fiber deficiency, the presence of excess simple sugar, refined foods), that if the change to the proper foods does not result in quick relief, the diagnosis of hypoglycemia should be questioned.

I hope you find these resources useful.
