He doesn't seem to like "sports" climbing much, and somehow manages to find a terminal decline of the human spirit and the triumph of commercialism over spirituality encapsulated therein.

And basically it's pretty friggin hard to claim he was anything but spot on.

I think he pretty much tried to be subversive...in a climbing sense..but failed somewhat because he a was also very good.

In a more broad way he was a kinda normal..at least for Britain.

JR says and does things to shock,,a publicity move ? maybe...subversive ? I'm not sure about that.

I went with the Cliff notes version.

Footless Crow aims to provide the best in British outdoor writing in a unique 'blogazine' format. Offering new articles and republishing classic articles from the past which have been cherry picked from UK climbing/outdoor magazines and club journals. In this I am pleased to have received the support of many of the UK's top outdoor writers who see Footless Crow as a perfect medium to air unpublished works and see old works republished in a format which was inconceivable when they were first written!

OK, Robbie I got it now. Should be able to pass the course.

Rich said...

Everyone knows that nothing clears than dance floor quicker than admitting that you are a mathematician. But I'm a social outcast no more, for now I can proclaim with pride, "Madam, I am a Wibbler."

Are you an extrovert or introvert mathematician Rich? I guess I could tell if you were staring at my shoes, and not your own in a conversation...;-)
