I heard a bump and saw one of these thick candles had melted and fallen into the floor.

Never seen a candle get gooey at room temperature.

one may hope so, Capt T.

And one may note the squirming piles of black tadpoles in the shrinking pool. Or join them.

And revel.

I think it topped out at 98 deg. F. at our place in Bishop, maybe 100 downtown. Pretty standard summer high for this place. Given the super hot stuff elsewhere, I'm surprised it's not worse here. Of course, we drove to 9K plus for a hike with temps in the low 60's in the morning. There's always an escape route in Bishop if you can't take it.

Out climbing yesterday it was suppose to get up to 70. A little nervous as a light rain hit the windshield going in @ 7am ish, but the sun was out later in the am and it was total shirtsleeve weather. Which only encouraged the deer flys.

ABout 90-95 at Bass Lake yesterday. Hot again today. Good news is that we have a lake-front cabin for the whole week.

Maybe rent a patio-boat today and go cruising. Maybe head up towards Shuteye and swim in some creek-holes. (Yeah, I just made that word up. If you saw them though, you'd agree it would be an apt description).

Is the American southwest becoming the next "uninhabitable zone"?

I don't think so. I guess technically Death Valley in uninhabitable, but people live there.
Btw DV was only 126F, yesterday.

OT, but where are the temperature sensors located on cars with thermometers?

Light snow on several days at Stevens Pass last week. We even saw/felt a few flakes in upper Icicle Creek. You have my sympathies-having cut hotline in weather like yours for Dalton.

Hey bluering did they ever get the septic situation fixed at Bass Lake? Is it safe to go in the water?
Most people still call it Ass Lake, so no.
It's really not a problem as long as you don't get any water in your ears, have open wounds, or ingest it.

Is the American southwest becoming the next "uninhabitable zone" in the world along with Pripyat near Chernobyl and the exclusion zone near Fukushima Da-ichi..........a place where people are no longer able to live because of human induced circumstances or climate change ?

May want to hand pick your micro biome.
In at least one section of the southwest, chosen for quality shade and a low dew point, it was possible to climb 5.13 enduro ow despite Mercury topping out @108°, I closest reporting station, on solstice day....ymmv...

Only around 90* with 90% humidity here in NH. No big deal. Roofing sucked today, but I’m still standing so how bad was it really? Guess I’m just being a puss(y). Ok, going to pass out now for a while in the AC, talk to you later. I’m so glad that it’s friday because I don’t have to be on that roof tomorrow. Sadly, I have to be on a side project roof all day Sunday. Monday, back to roofing the new home. F*#king roofs, I hates them.

Pretty nice at 8,500 ft. today. A breeze too the edge off, although the rock was getting pretty warm by the time we quit. Had shade nearby, which helped.
