I heard a bump and saw one of these thick candles had melted and fallen into the floor.

Never seen a candle get gooey at room temperature.

one may hope so, Capt T.

And one may note the squirming piles of black tadpoles in the shrinking pool. Or join them.

And revel.

I think it topped out at 98 deg. F. at our place in Bishop, maybe 100 downtown. Pretty standard summer high for this place. Given the super hot stuff elsewhere, I'm surprised it's not worse here. Of course, we drove to 9K plus for a hike with temps in the low 60's in the morning. There's always an escape route in Bishop if you can't take it.

Out climbing yesterday it was suppose to get up to 70. A little nervous as a light rain hit the windshield going in @ 7am ish, but the sun was out later in the am and it was total shirtsleeve weather. Which only encouraged the deer flys.

ABout 90-95 at Bass Lake yesterday. Hot again today. Good news is that we have a lake-front cabin for the whole week.

Maybe rent a patio-boat today and go cruising. Maybe head up towards Shuteye and swim in some creek-holes. (Yeah, I just made that word up. If you saw them though, you'd agree it would be an apt description).

Is the American southwest becoming the next "uninhabitable zone"?

I don't think so. I guess technically Death Valley in uninhabitable, but people live there.
Btw DV was only 126F, yesterday.

OT, but where are the temperature sensors located on cars with thermometers?
