Paul Craig Roberts - ex Reagan admin official - discussing BREXIT. Long but worthwhile IMHO if you are interested in this sort of stuff.

The faceless bureaucrats of Brussels and Strasbourg don't answer to anyone and they
went way beyond the Pale a long time ago. Besides Britain wanting to leave Finland,
Netherlands, Germany, and Italy have substantial numbers who want to leave. The trouble
is it's like trying to leave the Mafia.

OK Mike. I was going to listen, but it's an hour long. Can you give the Cliff Notes version? I'd vote to leave but of course it's not my choice. No tinfoil needed:-)

Votes are nice and all....but.....in fact, they cannot vote themselves out. If the vote is successful to exit, they then will need approval of a majority of the EU members as well.

Can you give the Cliff Notes version?

Just go online and read the last few issues of The Economist. They think
Britain is stoopid to leave. They admit there are good reasons but they're
gonna come at a price because the Brussels Cabal will punish them for their
heresy.

Shorter videos that cover the subject pretty well.

Or a more serious, and slightly more technical 15 min video.

If you guys are getting your info from the Economist and these two videos, then please, please listen to original post. You can draw whatever conclusions you like afterward, but swallowing this shallow propaganda is sad.

EU is centrally about a united front against the - once Soviet Union, and now Russia. Tied at the hip with NATO, driven by US hegemonic drives. Good for no one IMHO.

Do you remember when Germany raped Greece? Nice bed partners.

The Economist is shallow? Maybe your understanding of their reportage is. You should
try reading it, with an open mibd.

The EU was formed more to compete against US economic hegemony than the USSR.
In reality it was formed by professional politicians and commissars who didn't want to have
to worry about getting elected or having to be responsible to anyone for their actions.
Do European farmers really need 3000 pages of rules and regs to run their farms?
Does it really take 56 pages to tell them how to artificially inseminate their cow? It probably
took 100 farmers' yearly income to pay for the faceless bureaucrats' studies of how the
farmer needs to tell the cow, in three languages,

"Now, this is gonna hurt me more than you."

PCR does make good points that you will not hear in MSM press.

I don't need to listen to the whole thing. I know how he rolls.

Is it a good time to buy British pounds? Or should we wait for it to slip further?

The EU was formed more to compete against US economic hegemony

Only very partially correct. The EU was formed to solve the "problem of power" described by Hartmann in his book ( almost a type of manifesto) The Relations of Nations . It its first chapter one of the solutions to eliminating wars of the type that engulfed Europe in the 20th century was to incrementally dissolve what is seen as the causes of war, namely, the conflicting interests of the nation states.

It would be hard to overstate the degree to which this thinking has animated both progressive intellectuals and multinational financial forces . The nation state must be dissolved and replaced by a global-wielding elite who know better how to manage world affairs and all who live under their enlightened power.

The economic "packaging" of the EU as a regional trade block is smoke and mirrors designed primarily to control hitherto democratic populaces who have been pursuing their own sovereign interests . The elites use money , lots of it , for this purpose , not surprisingly; and also human fodder, such as poor displaced third world populations, in order to dissolve the ethnic underpinnings and cohesive sovereigncy of the nation states in Europe. We have seen this last strategy put into high gear in recent years.

Britain doesn't like this game. The majority of people there want control of their own destiny. Therefore She will be summarily punished in due course.

You all know the Economist is owned by the Rothschild family. Good source of unbiased spin. Same crowd that gave us 'western civilization will collapse if we don't give the banks $14 trillion'.

the Economist is owned by the Rothschild family

"The Economist Group is owned by the Cadbury, Rothschild, Schroder, Agnelli
and other family interests as well as a number of staff and former staff
shareholders" WIKI

Given that one would expect them to be a major flag-waver for the EU.
As a matter of fact they are anything but. On social issues they are
quite 'liberal' or in line with the EU, if you will, while on economic
issues they are quite even handed. I find nothing anywhere that approaches
them for in-depth honest reporting, even The Daily Worker! How much more
even-handed can you get than their last two pages data every week? Love
me some bare bones data!
