I am headed to shuteye ridge with my 4x4 club and I'd like to incorporate climbing and wheeling.

I've been to Big Sleep area last year for one weekend and enjoyed the climbing there. I'd like to explore different areas this time.

What are some of the best areas to camp at on the western side of Shuteye for 4-6 4x4 vehicles?

Some of the people may want to hike or fish. Has anyone been to Chilkoot Lake off Beasore Road?

Thanks.

Mike A,
I'll go through my shuteye guide book this evening. Any 'specific' camping spots for 4-5 trucks?

Thanks.

Hi, sure the big sleep area is super big 60 campers can fit there easy and the gate and road is open to get there 😊

I've camped at big sleep as it's my back up.

I was hoping for somewhere on the opposite side where I could access more 4x4 roads and explore some of the smaller crag areas.

You could get a forest service map and go explore! Lots of cool things to find up there if you're willing to explore...

agh, you guys and a couple thousand other people too, some looking for solitude. Going to be a crowded weekend. Be kind to the environment, the soft roads and the new flowers.
looks easy from here

a couple thousand other people

I was planning on going up there next weekend until I realized it was Memorial Weekend; immediate change of plans as soon as I did. I expect to still hear a few dirt bikes where I'm going, but hopefully fewer than the spots at Shuteye I was considering.

I would not expect any solitude at the High Eagle camping on memorial Day weekend, or space for 6 vehicles, unless you are there mid week to set up shop

Snowing up there tonight and off and on through Thursday morning, may not getting up there at all, was looking at little shuteye peak today while I was climbing at Fresno dome and looks super snowy up there still, doesn't look good for this weekend, maybe should go to the valley instead 😊

Going up to the lookout will be your best 4x4ing. Don't need to camp up there, but worthy day trip. Chilkoot has a little 4x4 section, easy and short though. I don't think there are fish in there, but a cool campspot on the lake.
Iron Lakes has a cool campspot after some mediocre 4x4 sections. This lake has brookies in it. Hopefully the crowds aren't too bad for you guys. Have fun.
