On Sunday, June 12, 2016 the Idyllwild Climbers Alliance will host the Sixth Annual Climbers Festival in Idyllwild. This year we are expanding to involve boulders using the Black Mountain bouldering area and providing access to camping in the Idyllwild Park
In the morning we will start with coffee and pastries at 8am to 9am at the Idyllwild Town Hall (25925 Cedar St.). After breakfast, volunteers will work on the Black Mountain area and the three main climber’s trails in Idyllwild, the climbing trails to Lunch Rock, the North Face of Tahquitz, and Suicide Rock. The day will wrap up at the Town Hall with a barbeque, raffle, and silent auction.
In 2015 the Festival due to bad weather, brought out only 30 volunteers and snow on the trail to the North Face kept us from working there. We are hoping for 50 climbers this year. We raised $500 for the Alliance last year and this year are hoping to raise $500 for the Alliance. This event is sponsored by: the Alliance, the Access Fund, and the Southwest Section of the American Alpine Club.
