hey there say... saw a neat show about this, recently, from my english friend... will have to come back, later and let you know
who did the film clip, as i am short of time, just now... :)

but wow! it showed the whole trail, some history of it, and
things along the way, and pubs, as well...

and a few areas that looked like folks could climb...

learned a bit about a climber name john gregory...
will post that in another thread, in just a few minutes...

But that was all still to come. This photo is of Greg’s Hut, the highest bothy in England and located near Cross Fell. The name comes from John Gregory who died in 1968 in a climbing accident in the Alps. In this memory, a group of friends adopted the hut and renovated it for use for all. By all accounts, most of them lived in the West Midlands, making their devotion to the cause even more impressive.

hope TO HEAR some neat shares, from any of you all,
in the next weekes, etc, or months, etc...

hope we to see some pics, too, perhaps...

thanks guys!

So NeeBee,

You've chosen an obscure topic there. As it happens I live just South of Bellingham, close to the Pennine Way. It passes close by several local crags, (in Northumberland - I'm not sure about elsewhere), Crag Lough on the Roman Wall, Queens Crag (an important bouldering venue) it bisects the romantically named Shitlington before passing just West of Callerhues and North to Whiteheugh. Eventually it passes a Crag high in the Cheviots called the Henhole. See Photos........

The crags other than Crag Lough (Which is Dolerite) and Henhole which is volcanic, are all Sandstone - known locally as Fell Sandstone

thank you kindly for sharing such neat pics here and a very kind reply!

i really enjoyed learning about this area...

i have friend who lives on the edge, or actually, on the moors,
(think that is better said) ... she shared this film clip with me, that
taught me about this area, as well as about her area (in a different clip)...

wow, thanks, again!
