Cubs hitters have had a ton of hits tonight in the top half of the order.

Hopefully the forgotten part of the Cubs bullpen can hold a 7 run lead.

edit: Chappy still out there! Hopefully only for an out or so.

That's cool that you got to see them back then, from the roof.

Go Cubs!

And I bet that you both, plus Reilly, have a friend named Vinnie. Or Russ. Something like that, anyway. Whatever.

When I lived in Chicago we used to watch the CUBS from those very rooftops.

I was in 4th grade back then .....

I was there during the Ron Santo, Glenn Beckert, Billy Williams, Ernie Banks, Don Kissenger, Randy Hundley era. My dad would buy 'obstructed' seats in the grandstands for $1 apiece. Of course he'd move us down to box seats until we got kicked out. Then we'd just move to the ample open seats that were available down one of the foul lines.

We would show up 1-2 hours before the start to watch batting practice and maybe snag a foul ball. Back then, they didn't use batting cages for batting practice.

One time, when I was 6 years old, a batting practice foul ball came our way and clattered around in the seats a few rows in front of us. I ran down and picked up the ball. As soon as I did that, a big guy grabbed it out of my hands. As I was welling up with tears (I was 6) a blur flew by me and took this guy over the row of seats. My dad was beating this guy badly. He gets the ball back, hands it to me and says, "hang on to it next time."

We got escorted out. My dad probably should have been in jail and if it were today, sued and starring in a viral video. But that was 1969. A different time by all measures.

Go Cubs!

Cubs should win it for Ernie, and the boys, but especially for Ernie.

^^^^ Sweet beatdown! I used to go to games by myself when I was 10 or 12! I was big for
my age but those days are gone, huh? Can't remember exactly but bus fare, a ticket, a Coke,
and a hot dog all totalled a few bucks. Can't even get a Coke now for a few bucks.

Since the home court advantage appears to have been stood on it's head, apparently the last game will not be in Comerica and oddly enough is not scheduled for 5:08.

Betting odds are in favor of Cleveland, but I'm getting back on board the Chicago train for 'sentimental reasons'.

These fellas seem to be saying "GO CUBS" so I'll just say "Good Luck".
