Hey 426,
Don't knock it.
With the idiot crown snapped on tight,
My threshold skyrockits from V0- to V0, plus, I look, feel, and act years younger.

I'm game for cragside punishment on Sunday eeyonkers, let's plan for success; dress optional...

Saturday morning Goatboy and I met Tar at his pad and we headed up to Eldora down the road for some snow fun, me on the Nordic trails and them on the downhills. We then had breakfast of salmon and sweet potato omlettes and cranberry raison bread.

Then it was off to another obscurity in Boulder Canyon called the Milk Dud. Tar drove us in the white 4-wheel drive 80s vintage BMW, one of three Beemers he has collected over the years. Dig the ski driving gloves. Straight out of Tar and Driver magazine.

I nearly woke up a person camped in some trees, or at least I imagine that I saw the resident of the camp I stumbled upon. A short bushwack and Tar was leading the obvious crack.

onsight baby.

Tracy gets her friend Janet and I to go do Jaque Peak via a rocky ridge, or so we hope. Of course snow cover up there is fairly new, so lots of deep powder. I think, eh, how bad can postholing be? Tracy leaves her snowshoes in the car thinking more or less the same thing. Using stealth, we access the lower flank of the peak via 91.

Here's Janet eating some gorp at our first rest stop.

Still clueless about the toil ahead.

Argh! This snow is deep in places! So....tired....postholing. Wait, what if I crawled over the snow here? Ah yes, it is strong enough to support my weight!

The torture of the willow flats. Tracy sinks a boot deep in liquid mud. The rest is slow snow slogging. We are beat by the time we get to the ridge.

The ridge is full of snow, too. Blarrrgh!

Quite a bit shy of the summit, we decide to turn back so that we can get to the car before dark. We have more postholing to do on the way down in dark, dead tree strewn drainages and a walk on a road. We get to the car around 4pm and the sun is down at 5. We reward ourselves for our...uh...tenacity with Mexican food in Frisco at the Casita Real. Very tasty.

OK eeyonkee Greg, Tar, and Goat-Eric post up your Sunday climbing shtuff. Did you get out to the S.Platte?

That whudaya drinkin' tehnite thread is cookin' so good I barely had focus 'nuff to slap these Sunday Shots up.

A pleasant lil' surprise from last week first:
Deuce 4, aka J Mittendorf, trotted up to Che-Tarbous' fer a visit.
'Had not seen 'Im fer a decade or more.

He was up to clean out a good bit of my 'ole sewin' factory.
Thanks to that, me 'n Lisa now have Beaucoup more closet space.
So I gave John a big hug before he pointed it back down stream.

Well,
Got up regular on Sunday 'Morn ripe fer routes.
Met eeyonkee down at Eldo fer a routine bit a lead swapin'.

This is the Redgarden Wall & then some,
Home to some super fine finger holds, sweeping views, and all that ropy stuff:

Our appointed task was the black stripes on the far right shoulder. Ant Hill Direct, a modest and comfy choice.

Here's 4 out of 5 pitches, bottom to top:

The last 2 pitches take a cool knife edge ridge:

...And the summit is a sharp point, from which a dangly rappel is enjoyed:

Best to play it safe and have a post climb beer waitng in the packs:

Ok,
Here's the standard to which a color sensitive guy might aspire in fitting out his shop:

This one was located 3 miles from Eldo and I made some neat stuff for 10 years.
Marathon sewing efforts combined with tweaky 5.11 has proven to exact a price; don't try that at home, 'cud put a crimp in the crimp...

I've never seen you without your 10-gallon, Roy.

It's like I stepped into an alternate universe....where Tarbuster is Frenchie...in Powder Blue.

Yikes!

What a great trail of adventures in this TR. Hope you can figure out how to save the photos.

Yes, Laura!

This thread was particularly giddy in the making.
It's nice that Stich started it, and then it was tagteam from there on out.

40-something was a good age. All jacked up tendon-like, but still able to move about with much gusto.

And then we had a visit on this thread from one of my favorite Taco Sheilas from BITD, none other than Tuolumne Rainbow a.k.a. T*R a.k.a. Standing Strong. Kind of miss her. She got her hot pants all twisted up in the not so mellow Nasty boy Jell-O of the forum (not referencing Jeff Lowe here) ... then she tried to blow the whole chicken ranch sky high with some sort of massive H-bomb post.

Then ... THEN ... CMAC and the powers that be launched her into the cosmos FOREVER.

But she had sweet feet and the tubby little mistress really wanted to be a climber. Sad, when I think about the whole thing. I cradle this image that she got out of school, figured it all out, hit the free weights, chiseled herself into dropdead gorgeous and married some Fabio type guy who galloped up with his long flowing mane spread out in the wind behind his shirtless awesomeness and scooped her up into his saddle ...

I've always remembered this particular post from T*R, from way up thread:

Anyhow, remember OUCH?
He really out did himself with some work which showed up early on in the thread, and the link is now dead.

But I'm pretty sure I saved it!!!
Watch this space, I'll find it and post it back up ...

The OUCH! rendition of our attempts to solve the Riddle of the Sphinx.

He definitely captured the gist of our convoluted defforts to untangle the crux pitch!

RIP OUCH!

Yes, I saw both tr's post and the empty Ouch! post.

If you have more Ouch! hilarity, Roy, you need to drop those badboys in asap. We could all use a bit of Ouchiness right now. :-)
