Damn, this is terrible news. I had climbed with Scott in Joshua Tree, Yosemite & the Needles, including a no falls ascent of Sea Of Tranquility, 5.12b. He was a bold, confident climber and had great control over the fear that grips most mortal climbers in scary situations.

My condolences to his family & friends.

Truly sad news. Scott was such a dedicated and talented climber. While I managed to repeat some of his sport routes out at Joshua Tree, there were others that I couldn't even think about doing the moves on. That guy was one bad ass climber, pushing the standards even when no one else was.

Such a soft spoken and humble guy too. Even with all the bad blood and slanderous talk back in the day, I never heard a bad word about Cosgrove. He taught my sister to climb - a chore for which I lacked the patience (though the fact that she was cute I'm sure had nothing to do with it).

I'll be thinking about him as I do an early morning hike in his memory.

hey there say, all...

no words... well, i will try...

my deep condolences to his family and friends, and loved ones...

at least he had this special time, since that horrible accident, to see how much his friends and family loved him...

and had time to reach a goal of getting well, and getting back outside to
where he loved...

we will not understand, why, he could not stay with us all, and his loved ones...

:(

my prayers for all in, this sadness, ...
amen...

This is sad news. Just met him a few times at the Tree.. Thought He was making a great come back from that horrific injury? I will never forget his doing Southern Belle.. It still a test piece that's only been done a couple times to this day..one of the finest face climbers of his day... Rest in Peace Scott... Sincere condolences to his family and friends..

I was at a children's recital at the school auditorium they played a piece for strings called the Wild Wild West,,I got home to a need to 'baten down the hatches', as a wind storm of amazing power is blowing thru

A sweeping Swirling Thunder Wind.
I am devastated and fired off screams of his last name, and fire works TOO `till the dogs barked and the Neighbors turned on lights

The wife poked her head out and asked Are You all right?

No Iam a crazy man the wind is my guide blowing wicked hard

to lead my pangs away

he was a real hero for who he had been - to who he had become,

pass sweetly

King Coz

Go into the night with these winds that cause others fright
for me they are a sign of another,
momentary instant brother's passing

away into the night of eternity
