As the annual crowds show up, I am seeing a repeat of a trend that I started to spot last year- bags of dog poo everywhere.

I believe the problem is the bags, not the poo. Let your dog poo. It's nasty at the boulders, at least people don't have to pick up your stanky poo bags that people leave everywhere.

Let your dog poo in freedom! No more waiting behind quivering haunches for your treat! No more bags left all over our public lands!

It's a win-win.

WHAT the hell is it with people bagging poo and leaving it? WHAT the freaking hell? Do they think there's some special service that comes by to pick them up? Take the crap home or bury it without the bag. Jeeez.

there is NO dog poop fairy

I nominate the dingbats from the Oregon wildlife refuge standoff for a lifetime of service in this role in trade for no jail time.

WHAT the hell is it with people bagging poo and leaving it?

Hell, on the Whitney trail they leave their people poo bags.
That should be a felony.

I've seen it plastic bagged in the snow on the side of the trail 3 years ago on the way to the Wheeler Hut in Roger's Pass. I'm not so surprised to see this on the edge of the city, but the backcountry in Canada ... some people are worse than their dogs.

For real ? People put dog poo or their own poo in a bag and leave it behind for someone else to ..........to..............to ........I don't know..... clean up ?

HAHAAHAHAHAH!!!! FOR REAL !?!?!!?

Yes, people really are that stoopid. I can't even fathom what they are thinking.

Let's see, maybe they think they are dog-dooing a good thing by bagging the poo, all good and fine. But somehow it doesn't register that they need to remove bag and poo. Now they have left a non biodegradable plastic bag and put the poo in it, so the poo won't break down as it naturally would if left alone. And they have to drop the baggy right on the side of the trail or trail head to show everyone how thoughtful they are.

I once had a chick yell at me because I placed her freshly used wag bag(that she left discarded on the trail) with her belongings.

Her line was "I was going to pick it up on the way back."

Ya f*#king right. Keep that sh#t with you.

People do that a lot in LA too, for instance in Griffith Park where I lead hikes with the Sierra Club. When we do clean-ups of the park, there's the issue of picking up disintegrating plastic bags full of poop. Yuck. (We bring tongs to pick up gross things.)

I mean, it's great when people pick up their dog's poop and throw it out, but why leave the bags by the side of the trail??

My guess is that people tell themselves that on the way back to their car they will retrieve the bag and throw it out, and then they don't bother. Otherwise it just doesn't make sense. It especially doesn't make sense in Griffith Park because there are big piles of horse sh#t all over the place.

I agree -- if you're not gonna take the bag and throw it out, just let the dog do its thing, preferably at the side of the trail.
