The best piece of a gear for a Tahoe ice climber is a fast car and an alpine start...

Or a ticket to Colorado, which I have at the moment. :)) #prespray

That's why I will do my best to keep to chiseled mixed climbs and shiet.

Or a ticket to Canada!!!

And now we are talking! A friend and I were thinking of making a trip out there? Any of you guys want to go in March? Could be very fun. French Reality! Man Yoga!! Curtain Call!!! Oh man that place is cool.

I remember a season, probably around 98, or 99, when a pretty good quantity of water got diverted over Snowshed Wall. It was beautiful! My recollection was that most of it was formed just to the left of Aerial. Too bad that didn't get the okay from whomever the powers that be were at the time, 'cuz it was fantastic.

That's right ! Lee Vining Ice is good this season. Dave Lane and I climbed a rarely formed line on the Main Wall. It was a direct finish to Cave Man, We climbed this line on Monday, Feb 8.

Dave Lane on P1 of Cave Man, Trevor Hobbs on Heal and Toe. Dave and I went straight up above the anchor at the end of P1 of Cave Man, It was A LOT steeper that it looks !

Had a ice climbing area on snowshed
Back in the day crag mouse
Lots of work with no pay
The powers that be shut it down
How would you even get
Water to your tunnels ?
And then what
Climb sideways?
Logistically difficult
For what it offers!

all climbing is climb at your own risk.

I have a question though. I have a set of carbon fiber Cobra tools and I don't have the money to upgrade to a proper leashless tool. is there a pinky rest gizmo that will attach to the hand grip? I found one that I believe will work but I was just wondering what you guys thought is the best, besides actually upgrading to modern tools

Yep even geezers know how much mice like tunnels!
Good luck with your project but
you still havent figured out how to get water to where you want it
to freeze ms.mouse!
As far as altering the tunnels concrete roof, its private
property dear just because no trains go through doesnt mean its up
for grabs. talk to Southern Pacific first.
finally, once you get better at ice climbing youll realize its all about being outside, with the sky and the wind!
ps:drive van to canada! :-/\

Rainbow was in over New Year's. There was some rare stuff in.

No chance Rainbow is in now - far too warm during the day. You want to see temps for Truckee with a low in the teens, high in the low 30's (or cooler).

Looks too warm even for Coldstream (I could be wrong). Also on a day with these sorts of temps I watched the Eagle Lake pillar collapse and roll down the hill (fortunately nobody in the way or they'd have been squished).

Lee Vining is your best bet in CA. Or head for Colorado.
