I am tired of waking up the damn hill. We have segways, hoverbords, hell I have even seen a motorized "wheel" around town. When are we gonna get motorized skins? Maybe something like a cordless belt-sander to just zip you to the top for some freshies.

Not what you asked for, I know.... but an interesting ascent method:
Ho man, I shouldn't have watched that. There are quite a few powered paragliders that launc near my house and the wheels have started turning. As an option for heliskiing from your trunk, or from our boat that's just crazy appealing.

Paul, am wondering if you got into motorized paragliding?
Slipstream has a 53 minute video, "Degrees North" of Xavier De Le Rue's adventures, in Svalbard & Alaska, with the rig shown a few posts up. So cool! Shows the evolution of the drop in they are doing.

It has pedals and crank arms coupled with freewheel carriers to the motor/drive chain -- 18 speeds 2 x 9. About 42 mph max on the flat.
On one breakdown I pedaled 18 miles to the car.

DMT,
the edirtbike was built by me from a 2007 Big Hit Specialized downhill bike and note the left black pedal crank is visible in the photo. It sits at about 11 o'clock and originates just behind the kickstand. The petal & cranks are on it all the time and are useable. It is a bicycle that has an electric motor assist.
It has a Cyclone 3000 watt motor, a Kelly Controller and has Multistar Rotocraft LiPO cells with a capacity of 2600 wh or maybe a 90 mile range with no pedaling. It can climb hills steeper 50% grade -- talus angle = 67%. The seat is an adaption of a seat from a KTM sx85 moto dirt bike.
