How did you solve the car break-ins at your local crag? Remember this question comes from a Canadian, we can't shoot dem varmits.

Hook up a recording of a rattlesnake buzzing when the door opens.
Of course, that might not work everywhere or with Trailer Park types.

At Stoney Point we have found that if you park your car by the thick brush at the top end of the road or way down at the lower end of the road its out of sight..... these are the prime spots for a jacking.
I leave my windows rolled down 1/2 way, car unlocked, with nothing of value in it except old smelly socks and underwear..... the crooks have stolen the socks and underwear before, so im not sure how well that tactic works.
I did know someone who hid in the brush intill the window smashing began....... this fellow is one of the wildest climbers I know... a solid thumping was given to the person who claimed he was only trying to unlock the car.

Stashes work if you have valuables...
I recommend a dry-bag in an appropriate color.
Edit: And a cheap stereo.
