So, was climbing the Wong Climb to Long Climb at Tahquitz yesterday, with my pack and approach shoes sitting at the bottom of the route. Came back down, and my guide tennies were gone... now, seriously, who is the kind of person that would steal someone's shoes from the bottom of a route, knowing that they need them to get back out? Seriously, who? So, for now going to assume that someone else was getting ready at the bottom of the route and accidentally grabbed them while racking/packing up. If you are that person, can you please shoot me a PM so I can get them back? Seriously... it sucks when a relatively new pair of approach shoes go missing and the hike out is painful without them (read: my feet F'ing hurt today because of your mistake). I'd really like to get these back. I think they were a size 45, green 5.10 guide tennie.

I left a fixed rope at The Weeping Wall back in '89. Someone put it in the lost and found at Nomad. You might check.

I usually stash my stuff in the talus off the beaten path when I'm there. I know that doesn't help now, I hate getting ripped off if that's what happened. why didn't they take everything else though?
did you hike out in your climbing shoes or barefoot?

Of course, we feel your pain…
For perspective, we left a fixed 9mm rope dangling from the end of the first pitch of Flying Circus back in 1978. Some fookin' as#@&%e thought it would be a stellar idea to chop the rope at head height and take the remainder as booty. Finders, keepers, and all that. We never thought of checking the lost and found at Nomad…

Same kind of slimeballs that do this kind of sh#t at Tahquitz:
Every one of them deserves anything that gets landed on them.

I was so dejected first time I saw that. Never thought a tagger would go to the effort

Thanks for the feedback - always figured that someone who had the desire to be in an awesome place wouldn't be the type of person who would screw others by taking their stuff. Tried Nomad with no luck either. Next time will get everything tucked away in my bag, and stash that farther out of site.
Bummer on the tagging too. Really can't understand what motivates people this way.

The tagging happened maybe 10-15 years ago. Haven't seen any since.
You might try posting on the MP S Calif forum. See if you get any answers there from someone that accidentally picked up the wrong stuff.
I'd say the odds are greater that someone's loose dog found some new chew toys.
