Simes,

Glad your on the mend.

As far as donughts post goes, he's not a dick and he's not wrong. Simes admitted he should have backed off. Trust yourself not a damn book.

@doughnutnational
Kind of a dick-thing to post
@Simes
Hope you recognize that the community is wishing you a speedy and full recovery.

Since my first post pointing out the obvious personality flaws of @doughnutnational was apparently removed, I will restate my thoughts more positively. Those in the community that are not psychologically and emotionally underdeveloped are wishing @simes a speedy and full recovery. May you smell the sweet smell of granite on you hands soon.

To be clear, I am not blaming anyone other than myself for the error. I simply stated that had I known more about the climb instead of relying exclusively on the Supertopo guide book, I would not have attempted it. It is not a 5.6 climb and many others have written that it is not a 5.6 climb. I should have quit. For future climbers, that should be clarified. Enough on this point...

Am so glad you are (relatively) okay, Simes, and did not lose your leg! Wishing you a full recovery and that you are back on the rock soon.

You might want to add beta, and a link to this thread, on that climb:

doughnutnational does not seem like a jerk, from what I remember of his previous posts. He has been around the block more than a few times. imho, usually something(s) to be learned from him.

simes:

Though just getting into the sport

Supertopo's rating is a complete sandbag for this climb and I knew it at the first crux. Did not feel comfortable at all and should have just retreated.

Topmost piece did not hold and I guess I fell 30+ feet

I would have never tried this lead of oh ad known the accurate rating.

Simes, I'm sorry about your accident, and wish you the best in the recovery of your ankle. In my opinion, it sounds like the inaccurate rating of the guidebook was not really related to this accident...

I'm glad it was not worse, and I hope you heal up quickly and completely.

New climbers often place poor gear. Knowing this, you were wise to stick to easy terrain. Sucks that your piece pulled. Sucks that the climb was sandbagged too.

yowch! It is amazing how quickly you pick up speed in a fall and how hard the rock is when you hit it at speed. Best wishes for a complete and quick recovery!
