Wow.... I can't believe that this is the first appreciation thread for .....
Brockman, Kath, Binney, or what ever she calls herself.....

To me it will be Brockman forever...

I first fell off of the turnip truck into Camp 4 in 1973.... Lost, unsure if I could cut it on the huge cliffs of the valley, unsure of the scene and how "it worked"...... one of the first people I met was Brockman, beautiful, blond and all knowing about the how, why and when of Camp 4 life. Every morning she was one of the ones up early, making coffee, making small talk, and she was a magnet for the BIG BOYS, you know guys like Kim Schmitz, the Bird, Dale, Kevin and a whole host of the Big Dogs.... sometimes she would hook you up with somebody who required a belay slave. She was in with the in crowd.

But the best memory I have is the lifelong pleasure of just knowing her, seeing her back in the Mammoth days, at Guitar and Music shows, and now having her as one of the shinning stars of Super Topo.

Ekat rules.

Hope to see you around....young lady.

(Oh...yes...only a couple dozen times. D'oh!)

From her days of being a YoseClimbingNorseGoddessBallerinaFisherwoman, and driving a PURPLE VW van, to her repairing her own roof in the Montucky snow...that gal has seen some adventure!

I too look forward to one day sitting around the fire with her, listening to tales of yesteryear...laughing my head off.

First time in Camp 4 after a 2 day hitchhiking ordeal, most of the last day spent at the entrance gate to the valley, and a bad nite along side of the road... very frustrating.

I finally get a ride from a worker going to work who drops me and my friend at Camp 4.... early morning.

I have a splitting headache from lack of caffeine.

But I have made it to the most holy place in all of climbing and I have a few weeks to enjoy myself.

The first thing I see is this very cool blond "chick" sitting at a table and she looks at me, smiles and says.... "would you like a cup of coffee?"

I had found my guardian angel.

Thank you for being you.

Anyhow,
