He and Dean were the quintessential 'local boys make good' story and are so fundamental to the history of Beacon Rock up here that it's hard to imagine any telling of the history of the place that doesn't include them.

Hi Fellow Climbers,
Just a small spelling correction. I am posting this intending no disrespect to Scole or anyone else. John Roskelley's last name includes an "e" before the "y" at the end of his name. Unfortunately for John, his son Jess, and other members of his family there is a tendency for many people (going back many decades) to spell his last name as "Roskelly," but in fact it is "Roskelley." My posting is not meant to detract in any way from the kind comments concerning Kim, as a slight toward Scole, or to contribute to some of the disrespectful and pointed posting which sometimes appear on climbing forums. I hope no offense is taken. I offer this for the sake of accuracy in our common understanding to climbing history and some of its greatest contributors.
