Oddly (or unfortunately) I've actually been thinking Trump might be the best Republican candidate. At least he says what he sort of believes, and is willing to say that Social Security, Medicare, et al are okay.

I'm sure that he started this as an internal joke and was laughing all the way but, really, he's WAY better than Carson (an idiot savant apparently), Cruz (scary), Bush (another idiot, repeatedly shooting himself in the foot or feet, as the case may be), Huckabee, an insane 'Christian' grifter, Rubio who can't balance his own budget, and others who I can't recall right now.

So, go Trump!!!

Norton, Norton. You know you don't need to hold back with me. I can take it.

John

sorry John, but I admit to getting frustrated with you

you who recently said that given the choice of your own party's candidates that
you would vote for Hillary Clinton....

when I read that I am blown away, amazed, really, that you showed that you were indeed capable of critical analysis without overriding bias

I was impressed John

and then......after meaning to email you to profess my admiration, I read the same
old sh#t from you, your inexplicable tendency to spout ignorant nonsense

be more specific please Norton?

John, unless you personally were at every damn national security briefing and every meeting with foreign leaders behind closed doors, then and only then can you pull your ugly partisanship out of your ass again and state your so very informed opinion that president Obama does "not know how to negotiate", well fuk me

why don't you tell Stephen Hawking that he doesn't know his ass about Astro-Physics
while you re at it, John?

you have a law degree, at some point you were taught to reason without bias and
personal arrogance, when did you forget that John?

when you went into the voting area and voted again for a Republican in 08 when
the economy was losing 500,000 jobs a month and was in recession? CHRIST

Current POTUS negotiate with anyone?

Why would he when Congressional Republicans continue to wiff on their hay-makers and punch their own teeth in?

Norton,
JEleazarian has a different perspective than yours.
I've always thought that diversity of perspective and thought processes make the human species stronger, but it wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong.

Maybe John could be sent to a government re-education camp so he could see things more clearly.

In reality, though, one could argue that CNBC did the Republicans a favor by demonstrating, in however small a measure, the media bias apparent to anyone familiar with objectivity.

Which media bias was demonstrated, exactly? You think that it's biased for journalists to ask challenging questions of candidates during a debate? Asking candidates to explain the magical mystery math of their proposed tax plans as challenged by actual economic analysis is "liberal bias?"

As usual, the real biases of media get overlooked in favor of the deep, deep desire for Republicans to play the victims. The moderators certainly could be faulted for exhibiting the prominent media bias towards conflict and sensationalism. That's not the same thing as an overt political bias.

The candidates brought the crappy debate questions on themselves. Not one of them has yet to say anything related to any real world policy positions. It's all just trying to out crazy each other. They should be grateful anyone let them put their shitshow on television at all.

re Crankster's Carson quote: Doesn't Carson know the pyramids aren't hollow? That they are just huge piles of stone? This man lives in an alternate universe where reality doesn't matter. He must be on drugs.

I can't believe some people are still trying counter the consensus opinion that the CNBC moderators did a horrible job. Does that prove media bias? I don't know. But it's fairly obvious the moderators did a disservice to the participants.

Chris Christie, has a compelling clip that's viral today. In fact, there are several indications, the Republicans, are moving towards a more consistent social issues ideology. Some would say, day late and a dollar short.

But today, ISIS, has demonstrated they can get a bomb on a plane. Probably by scaring the crap out of Cargo Handlers. Though nothing is proven. Proof, doesn't matter as much as does perception. A lot of people fly, a lot of planes are crashing.

So people have to ask themselves. Does Hillary make them feel safe? In the end, I think that's where the election will go.

Certainly better than the current POTUS, who has yet to demonstrate an ability to negotiate with anyone.

Really, you are willing to bet the security of the US on this? You are not concerned that we might be electing someone who believes that God is telling them that it is their destiny to accelerate into the "endtimes", by a pre-emptive nuclear strike?

Whereas we have the example that "demonstrates" you don't know what you are talking about: Trans-Pacific Partnership Free Trade Agreement (TPP), negotiated by the President and 11 other heads of state.

Or the Iranian nuclear deal, negotiated by Obama, the other great powers, and one of the "three axis of evils". You may not like the deal, but you can't say that it was not successfully negotiated.

To be fair to John E, he did NOT say that he would vote for Hillary rather than any of the Repubs, he was specific about Donald Trump. (and I imagine that there are a couple of others that would not make the grade, either----but he did not say that)

We have 11 more months of this, so don't burn yourselves out yet. How about a slight, but presidentially related, diversion?

So here we go...little know presidential facts...

Did you know that Warren G. Harding's pet name for his penis was Jerry?

But this is the time when we actually have a choice. Once the Primaries start, the election boils down to a few people in a few states.

WAS the CNBC questions overtly worse than the other debates???

http://www.vox.com/2015/11/3/9663038/cnbc-debate-hostile

So who were the Moderators:

Becky Quick: " Prior to her employment at CNBC, she covered retail and e-commerce industry topics for The Wall Street Journal and helped launch the paper's website in April 1996.[2] She served as the site’s International News Editor, overseeing foreign affairs coverage"

yep, the Wall STreet Journal, that liberal rag.

Carl Quintanilla: "From 1994 to 1999, Quintanilla served as a staff reporter for The Wall Street Journal where he wrote full-time for the newspaper's Chicago, Illinois, bureau, covering airlines, manufacturing and economic issues. He also wrote a weekly column on workplace issues and on-the-job trends for the newspaper's front page.

Again, that liberal rag!

John Harwood: "Before joining the Times, he wrote for The Wall Street Journal."

I dunno if it is really fair to automatically bag on the moderators, all of whom have worked for the WSJ, a notoriously conservative paper, particularly when it is supposed to be a debate on economic issues.

I didn't. But you'd think that a man with the last name "Harding" wouldn't need to nickname his penis.

Apparently the name Jerry made "little Harding" seem more friendly and perhaps less threatning.

Did you watch the debate Ken? I did.. Not all of the questions were asked with snotty tones, but many of John Harwoods certainly were. Moderators aren't meant to be combative. At least in my opinion. The guy behaved like a sh#t. Plus the way it was set up, the questions changed areas every question, so there was hardly any debating among candidates. Some of the candidates handle it pretty well, but it was something of a free for all. Which was probably partly design.. If you think about it. I just didn't care for it because there wasn't any real debate. Just either zingers or hack speeches.
