Strangely, there are many spots in the wilds of our country where there is no cell phone service. Something to ponder & dread, if "connectivity" is important to you.

Don't take a camera, since every ounce counts. Ask fellow backpackers to email you their photos.

Consider a campstove you don't need to carry fuel for. The Biolite must be the very apex of campstove inventivness.

And above all, remember what Sheridan has to say on the subject!

You can only keep the real personality hidden for so long, then it just has to escape and show itself.

Seriously, it's already creeping out....

But in the interest of keeping helpful, do learn how to "hang" your food. Some places you are not allowed to do this any more because of bears. Look on line for specific park regulations. If you are mostly worried about smaller critters, think about getting an UR-sack or something else hard to chew thru. Canisters are a pain in the ass and should be avoided if at all possible. And, Harden the F up. Do with less to keep the weight to a minimum. Get creative about it.

Good post skreedysee, I believe it is essential that she know how to use a condom, for the worlds' sake.

Pretty good one, if somewhat nasty.
