don't know enough german, though, for me to get it all, but has
great film and he has a nice manner, of presenting it...

ps:

there is also a four parter, Luis Trenker erzählt - Dolomiten 1/4

Not so much home life, but more like a James Bond movie.

"Love Letters from the Engadine - The Race" (1938)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WCHwVFusqg

AND you just follow the action, no worries about translation.

"Ski Heil! Kurzfilm" (1955)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvZqQ69YN7s

Those ARE fun old films, neebee, leading us net travelers to who knows where?

my german friend, too, had shared a bit of luis trenker, alpinist and actor, (as was in that movie) ... so after that, i looked up some more stuff, :)

love the dolomites, area, too... :)

edit:
wow, mouse, say, you should POST that in one of the taco-ski threads, :)

Luis Trenker was a real pioneer of Dolomite rock climbing, and an extremely popular route on the 1st Sella Tower is the "Trenkerriss," or Trenker Crack. It's still rated as either a very slippery and insecure 5.7, or more realistically, a 5.8.

Trenker resided in the village of Wolkenstein, or Selva after becoming part of Italy after W.W. I. By the way--I have visited Wolkenstein each of the past 2 years, and it's a great climbing base.

Three photos of the Trenker Crack, mentioned by Brokendown climber. I did this back in the 70s, then about three years ago with my wife Bronwen and son Tim.

Bronwen forgot her rock shoes and had to do it in her trainers, exciting given the polish.

Tim romped up the going up, but walking from the base on the narrow tracks, his somewhat cavalier attitude was heart stopping!

We did the Steger on the First Sella Tower...I'd like to get back there and do the Trenker...those pic's are making me think sooner than later!

Fun!

I believe I have a Trenker book in my library...
