That's too bad. I really like those guys.

The one that got it all started, and still my favorite.
I can honestly say I've seen these guys live more times than I can remember.
It's easy to remember seeing them at The Fabulous Forum, Flip Wilson-style ( in the round ) before any of us had drivers licenses ( I drove, because my Old Man somehow got the idea I was at work that night, the only excuse for using the car that would fly before I was 16 )
I had free tickets and backstage passes at the Glen Helen Waste Management Ampitheatre. I didn't meet the band - I didn't even see them "backstage" - but I did get to pay $9.75 for a shot of scotch ( that's like ten dollars, with the tip ). I remember that one.
I'll never forget the night at the Greek Theatre, sitting in the front row in the "Circle Of Gold", or the Circle Of People Whose Noses Are In The Air, or whatever they call it. The only people in the whole joint who didn't want our seats were the dozen or so seated to our right, because they were in the center of the front row. I don't know how my pal got tickets for that one.
I've seen them a couple more times at The Greek, sitting among the common folk.
And twice more at The Fabulous Forum - both in the same two or three days on the 90125 tour. I was running with a gal whose Dad lived in Cudahay or Bell Gardens then, a f**king hell-hole of a town, but his place was right up the street from The Forum.
And in Long Beach ( or was it Santa Monica? ) at least once.
A sad day, but he left us with some cool tunes.

What a shame...it was always a great joy to watch him play. One of the best examples of the indispensable roles that a bassist can have in the power of a band. Rest in Peace, good person.

YES has been my soundtrack to life now for so long. I love the band even in its many diverse forms. But Chris has always been a mainstay. He Jams on the Bass like a lead guitar. And the thunder of bass that makes your bones literally quake in live concert can't be beat. Any Bass player worth his instrument has to credit Chris Squire as an influence.
I will miss you Chris. See you in Heaven. I know your background in choir brought you to truth. Your music will live on.
Even though you won't be there in person on this next tour Billy Sherwood your good friend will do his best for you. I'm sure you'll be smiling looking down from another realm. G-d bless you Chris. RIP now.
