Took a drive from cloudy Seattle up to Washington Pass today, hoping to see it in all its glory, but not holding our breaths. What the heck...it was beautiful up there. Anyone want to augment this with some climbing pics? Liberty Crack looks pretty fantastic.

A fine idea, donini. I'm hoping to this summer. Traveling steadily through July 11, then around for a bit.

You gotta know Alex Bertulis to truly appreciate the aptness of the roof's name.
Hey, coming from me you gotta know that's not any sort of slight.

Good call, Mooser. I love that place. When I moved to Washington it was one of the first places I visited. I hadn't climbed anything in years and it was an inspiration to "get back into it". So I worked with this kid that was just getting into climbing and we got each other stoked. To make a long story short, I bought some gear and we headed up there to try our luck.(skills were questionable at this point)

Due to a combination of lack of conditioning(me) and unsure ability(noob), we didn't top out. We managed to climb a few pitches and get off-route. The noob led his first trad lead and fell and I managed to squeak out an onsight 5.9, so it was a good time. I made another good friend through a shared adventure and so the story goes.

Now I want to get back up there and at least get to the top of something. Ghost? Whadda ya say? Should we try to get on it this summer?

Washington Pass was where I first learned to rock climb. Such a special place, so much beautiful rock over there. Not to mention the gorgeous Methow Valley...

Thought I'd add...
Trip from B.C. last week. "Early Winter" indeed.
Great area. Amazing setting to climb in.
Managed to climb "The Bell", N. and S. Spires.
Managed to stop for beer, gas, and herb. All good.

Concrete. Town of mystery.

And I've seen goats on S. Early Winters Spire, but that one is on the top! It must have a sponsor to report to. Or lost.

Wow, sac! The conditions look incredible. Due to having to work on a remodel between client appointments all summer long, I never made it up there. Anyway, nice shots!

I'll throw a picture into the Washington Pass hat...

The yellow larch trees (a deciduous conifer) are colorful this time of year. Queuing up for the Becky Rt in '94 - we decided on the Cave Rt on Concord instead, attempting all five towers in a day, we settled for four.Eponymous weather at Early Winter Spires - fall, '11
