For those wondering about conditions in Tuolumne, here are some photos taken on opening day and the day after. North-facing slopes above ~ 10,000 ft have snow at the base.
Fair amount of snow on NE-side approach to Tenaya peak.
Cathedral Peak
Unicorn Peak
Dozier Dome - hard to see in these photos but most of the water streaks had water running down
Third Pillar
Boltway on Stately Pleasure Dome was dry

I was in the Valley last week and also estimate that water levels are like July in a normal year.

Any skeeters? A good rule of thumb for Tuolumne is no mosquitos for the first 2 weeks after the pass opens.
They start appearing at Lembert Dome and the store area first.

How many on ST have actually been to Tuolumne and the Eastside?
If so, what's your best memory/adventure?

Ah, sweet-thanks!
Lynne I have so many memories I wouldn't know where to start.
Suffice to say, it is my favorite place on the planet. I just feel at home there.
Hope to talk Nita + Andy into a trip this summer there.

Delhi, your post totally intrigues me. Just pick the first memory and write us a sweet story here. Doesn't have to be long.
Cheers to you QITNL. See ya in the beauty. :)

Hi Lynne - memorable Tuolumne days...
My parents sent me to Royal Robbin's RockCraft school as a graduation present. Royal and I climbed the Dike route on Pywiak on a perfect Yosemite day.
Years later, a friend and I were climbing the route. I was leading the pitch above a belay alcove and 15-20 feet above my climbing partner without any pro. The lead starts up the left side of the alcove and then moves back right above the alcove.
My partner realized I was directly above him and would fall on him if I came off - so he moved over and ended up giving me a huge tug on the rope while I was on 5.8/5.9 moves. It nearly pulled me off and cause EXACTLY what he was afraid of! But I'm a great runout friction/face climber and managed to stay connected to the rock!
My friend has been a safe and reliable partner for many years (we all make mistakes) - my friend bought all the beers that night! And I needed a few of them!

Here are some photos taken Wed May 6. Trail to SE Buttress is free of snow except for a few feet here and there. I saw a few small mosquitos in a few places.
