[Click to View YouTube Video]Anyone have the Cure. Saw them in the Rose Bowl in the summer of 1992. It was a cool show but later that night we got back to long beach where we were staying and were awoke by one of the biggest quakes in quite sometime in LA at the time. To say that night really shook my world was an understatement.

Saudis oil sheiks like the Cure. Who knew. Was just browsing Youtube and saw the song Killing an Arab and thought about putting it on Survivals thread.

Wow dis-tastic!, that is just so classic thanx , gonna be a strange day! If
You eat a frog for breakfast nothing worse will happen that day,
If you step on a frog on your way to breakfast it is to early in the morning
Tell the boss or whoever it is that has you up out'a bed - "it is too early!"
when even the frogs are in bed.

Edit to say a day of trials of little merit, need to post some climbin' content but I used to ski to the Cure

Groups like the Cure are a mystery to me, or I'm a mystery to myself. Whatever.

Their classic, Lovesong, was one of the best pieces by any band. But for me, that was the extent of their greatness.

So, I've always wondered about these (for me) one-hit wonders. Toto, with Africa, comes to mind. It's like such groups strike genius once, and the rest just doesn't move me.

Of course, that's just me... I don't think that there's any "objectivity" to musical appreciation. LOL

Edit: Of course, my tastes have morphed to almost exclusively progressive metal from "Viking nation" bands now. Go figure.

I've always been a big Cure fan, so when this session booked I was pretty excited...

"...Lovesong, was one of the best pieces by any band. "

One of my least favorites by the Cure. Not a bad song...it's got some nice, sweet lyrics & hooks...but it's just not in the same creative league as their earlier stuff.

I missed that. Did he really call The Cure a one hit wonder? He is truly mad..;-)

He is truly mad..;-)

Wait, that sounds like an objective claim. I denied objectivity regarding this subject. :-)

The "blasphemy" line was objectively great, though. LOL

One hit wonder is not something I would call the cure. I think they are still playing and started in the 70's.

If so what would their one hit be?

Gotta love the late 80's and early 90's. The samples are another band that was really great.[Click to View YouTube Video]The hoard tour seemed to be the beginning of the jam band scene. I think when I saw the first tour it was Widespread, the Allman Brothers, The Samples, and Big Head Todd. Great concert.

The earlier stuff is much better, though my two favorites are sort of mid-career, Lullaby and Pictures of You.

I went to see them at the Forum in 1986 in full Goth mode. Right before the show started, with the lights still up, some guy on the floor got up on a chair and started stabbing himself with a large knife in a suicide attempt. Apparently that was appropriately dark for that crowd, as the show went on...
