[Click to View YouTube Video] [Click to View YouTube Video]I feel like most climbers are keeping lists. Mostly mental but sometimes actual. Had to run over to the tower today after work to get in April.I am usually seeing the view below as I am going down but tonight it was as we were going up. Was hoping to get up there and rap the west face as the sun went down. Jack cruised it as usual. It was a little creepy to see vader in the inky blackness on the summit.Rapping the steep 500ft west face in the dark. Jack is going to be tired in the morning and I wont be walking so well. For Jack it was 7 for me it was 8.

Excellent : hit the top of the tower every month ?
Man that's so cool thanx for the stoke!
Not walking so well myself after a strong outing , my recovery time is longer each year it seems but the urge to get out still grows.

Jack gave our new route The Deans List the first go after we top roped it and put in the bolts. Neither one of us got it today, but we will hopefully in the morning.
I not in the habit of naming routes before the send, but this one is a little different. Only putting it in because it is only 3 miles from town at a scrappy little cliff with many routes that have gotten greasy over the years with many having low overhanging cruxs so they have seen more than a few grounders taken. But that is not why this one gets named early, it is because Cragman sent me a bunch of hangers after I enquired about the best deal on hangers on the forum. I have never met Dean, but it seemed like one of the nicest things a stranger has ever done for me. I had done a lot of bolting for the first 15 years I was here. I always loved putting in the routes but the expense and time it took kept me from my true passion trad climbing.
Jack did a great job and has never tried to lead a route that hard which I imagine is 10+/11-. Well anyway this one is going on some more lists including Jack's first lead fall.
It will be interesting to see who gets it first and even if it is someone else it doesn't matter as it was fun to get out and create from a blank canvas again. It turned out to be a really good route at a place that most of us have thought to be played out for a long time.

Anybody else keep lists, being as obsessed as many climbers are I would imagine you might.

Just again wanted to thank Cragman and let him know we have almost made the Dean's List and the work has begun on the Dean's Office high above spearfish canyon. You can know that your donation will make a difference to the climbing that you can ride your bike to from town. Mike

Sent the Dean's List tonight. Jack one hung it and almost beat me to the redpoint.New lists for this route. First time Jack caught me falling while belaying, Jack's first lead on a route 5.10 or above, and Jack's first whippers.
