Good guess, I've been there, but I travel more often in the North. Mostly not for climbing, although sometimes with shoes in the luggage....

Developed crag, or were you putting a line up in that picture?

As far as I know (which isn't much) there are about 4 developed crags in Iceland, and that's one of them: Munkaðverárgil.

Now, mirconut.....you know the TT isn't as steep as your photo displays. Give that shot a 25 degree tilt to the right and you have it spot on. And I hate to call you out on the number of pitches on the TT but if you were on the 5th pitch, you'd be doing the 3rd class walk off. Now, if this was linked with Wandering Taoist or Falling Star, I might bite on it.

Jay - Frank told me some good stories about your adventures together.
Something about a maple syrup/gas waterbottle and him taking a big one on Mescalito.
I saw the photo you mention too, he told me about getting to lead those pitches after the 'tron fall'. Cool stuff.

here is a few from our great stay with Frank...

Carol's Crack...and since we have the rope up, might as well shoot...

Oneway Sunset, then we got to tr Buster Cattlefield.

Well actually all of them were good.

Pat and Frank were planning on doing a new route while we were there, but it ended up being Pat, Travis and I instead.
Frank sent us out loaded up with his gear...fun time.

The rest were taken by Greg Darda.
The approach to the Upper Tiers, Poke-O-Moonshine

Cleaning up a little
[/img]http://farm1.static.flickr.com/131/361247701_ac410fe96b.jpg?v=0{{/img}}

Pulling the lower crux - coming out from the little ice alcove and pulling up.

Finishing up the steep upper section. Though you can't see it in the photo, the entire upper column was hollow in back, and barely connected at its base, though it grew thicker up top. Even without touching it, it was groaning and creaking, and there was a good sized crack running the circumfrence of its base. I think I was more scared belaying than my boyfriend was climbing!
[/img]http://farm1.static.flickr.com/138/361297869_289728ea19.jpg?v=0{{/img}}

I did eventually manage to hang, squeal, whine and get my butt hauled up the bottom of the route (pull around an overhang? Upper body strength? Me?). The upper section should have been no problem but boy was I pumped. The screaming pukies brought tears to my eyes. Evenings were spent getting drunk and playing with sharp pointy things. Always a good idea, right?

the route is out by Dead Horse Point. its on the buttress that faces the Crows Head spires/Bird's Eye butte. the yellow dots are the standard rappel stations. you can rap the route itself, too. mountain project has good directions to get to the area (no info on the route, though) which sits between dead horse point state park and canyonlands nat park boundaries.
