Craigslist for climbers:

49-year old SWM climber needs regular Thursday partner for knotty Northern California action.

My standards are low: If you have a pulse, know how to tie a figure-8 and belay, have your own harness and climbing shoes, and are consistently available on Thursdays, we could be a match made in heaven.

My schedule provides Thursdays free every week, and I need to find a partner available for day strikes into the Sierras between the Tahoe and Yosemite regions.

Flipping leads optional but not required. I'm happy to do all the leading if that's not your thing. Motivation mandatory.

Since I'm coming back from surgery, I'm aiming for a season of moderates, 5.7s, 5.8s, and 5.9s. Some .10s as the season progresses.

I'm happy to help you learn the outdoor ropes if that's a transition you're looking to make.

If you want to examine my bona fides, I've done a fair bit of climbing with some of the Supertopo regulars. Some smaller number of whom might be willing to vouch for my basic competence.

My perfect Thursday hookup would live in the Bay Area so we can share the driving, have a brain and something to say, a sense of humor, and a rope in better condition than mine.

But all I really care about is that you're psyched and able to climb on Thursdays!

What's your range of travel? Im having a hard time getting out as much as I want and could use a midweek partner for new routes on high desert crags east of Reno.

Rick, tempting, but I don't think I can comfortably do day strikes east of Reno. However, my current book project requires a few appearances in the UNR archives... I could easily be tempted while on one of those excursions.

Gumby, the brain thing is not a deal breaker... as long as you can belay.

Gnome, I'd love a Gunks trip, but I'd need the Concord to do one-day strikes from California.

As Grossman said in a different thread, "What happened to the great slackers of yesteryear?"

And if I can't turn up a regular Thursday person, I would happily settle for someone able to tie in this coming Thursday, 4/30...

Im here till may 22, then in Ak till Sept usually. This year im coming back to NV for aprox 1 week per month over the summer. So Greg, if your UNR trip (s) happen in this time frame pm me and we can get on any number of new routes I have scoped out-some north face stuff suitable for warmer summer temps. As far as 4-30 goes I might just be into 3 or 4 routes at the Leap if my freind Bob cant go climbing mid week due to doctors recommendations. I'll know tomorrow.

Ed, after your success out at IC, you should be good and ready for some desert granite. Not quite the social scene, but good routing nonetheless. Bring another freind. I prefer climbing with three on the remote stuff.

I just might fit your bill especially if the brain thing isn't a deal breaker.

I'm one of the chosen few with June and July off.
I'll be in and out a bit but Thursdays are as good as any other day.

I'll be in Truckee for much of those 2 months.
I'll stay in touch.

cheers

Hi Gregory,
I have Thursdays and Fridays off and often find myself with out a partner.
I do live in Sacramento.
Have been a long time lurker and rarely post but neccesity has brought me out of my shell.
Moderates sound good. I do have a rack, rope and shoes.
I am free this Thursday too.

Well, I went to bed alone, and I woke up with a partner!

How often does that happen?

Donnici, I would love to rope up this Thursday.

Since he replied first, I'd like to climb with Norwegian the following week, but assuming we do well this week, we can hopefully get out regularly thereafter.

I'm at gregorycrouch@sbcglobal.net and let's get this squared away. (I'll PM you, too.)

Greg my offer still stands if you are willing to drive a bit to come check out some of the world class stone and lofty golden granite spires in the Shuteye Ridge area. We would meet in Oakhurst or Coarsegold which is at least 3:30min drive for you, but worth it if you're game. You could also charge out of town wed after work and bivy under the stars if you needed. We could meet at coffee thirty and climb all day.

Your new book, ENDURING SHUTEYE, would be full of tales of mellow approaches, sunny rock, minimal run-outs, summit certainty and post climb burritos. If you're into that kind of thing. Lets put a Thursday on the calendar this summer if I've piqued your interest.

Hello Greg.

If any partners fall through, send me a PM. I am a substitute teacher and really hate myself if I work more than 4 days per week. I would love to get out with you. This and any other Thursday. I am in Dublin currently.

Mirconut--I will definitely take you up on that this summer. I'm currently planning on enjoying a season of "guaranteed outcome climbing."

Hey Greg,I live in Bishop but will be spending all of June and part of July in Napa. Would like to climb some of the routes on Mt. Saint Helena and need a partner. I will also be spending a week in Gualala/Mendonoma coast if yer into bouldering around Salt Point or so. Oh and I am not employed so Thursdays should be totally open. I'll shoot ya a line as it gets closer.
