Compelling, beautiful and intriguing work.

Narendra Shrestha.

Drawn by the art of photography from a very tender age, I ventured into professional photojournalism in 2000 after completing the course from International Institute of Journalism in Berlin. Since then, I have worked for several daily and weekly magazines, and at the same time have pursued my passion of photojournalism.
My most noted and acknowledged works have been the documentation of two historic moments/periods of the country: the first one was the Maoist insurgency (1996-2005) and the second one was the second people’s movement in 2006.Besides covering those two crucial moments of Nepali political history, I also got the chance to cover the historic cabinet meeting in 2009 at Kala Patthar, the Everest Base Camp, helping to draw the attention of the world towards the effect of climate change.
Likewise, I have received Nepal's New Achiever Award, first prize in the Kathmandu International Film Festival, and the grand prize at the Nepal National Photo Award. Another notable achievement during my 15-year-old photojournalism career came in 2013 when I was assigned with the task to cover the Australian Open Tennis Grandslam by EPA (European Pressphoto Agency).

Speaking of photojournalism, are you familiar with the work of Sebastiao Salgado?
