So.........How is the tea? Worth the hike? Or is the experience and the view the main payoff.

Randisi. There is supposed to be a Tea House at the "Southern Peak". Would be nice to have some good tea, sit back, and enjoy the view before heading back down. My wife visited the terracotta warriors in the late 70's I think and snuck a few photos in. My wife's family is from that region although she was born and raised in San Diego. They speak a dialect known as longdu. Lots of things to see in China, that's for sure!

hey there say, brodracula, wow, thanks for the NEAT share...
whewwwww... :O
say, randishi... wow, i love the red bows, and the locks, very symbolic, as you said...
and, the so many many folks that they represent, that had climbed here...
thanks for the other links, too, everyone...
i remember seeings... nice to see them all together, at once, as i go to look back...
also, question, please:
i know you said that JULY is busy, but say, also:
DO they, the folks that climb here, take CARE? as to any weather changes, that may be nearby and dangerous, or, do they climb only
certain times of the year? (july, notably, as you said)...
as to this quote, skcreidc:

http://www.travelchinaguide.com/attraction/shaanxi/xian/mt_huashan_2.htm
lots to read there... wow!
edit, way, just saw an answer to my own questions:
Best Visiting Time
You will see different beautiful scenery in different seasons. In spring, the mountain is cloudy; in summer, it is often rainy; in autumn, it is foogy and in winter, it will be snowcapped. The best time for climbing is from April to October. On March 15th according to the Chinese lunar calendar, is Mt. Huashan Praying Day when grand temple fairs and other celebration activities are held.
The best time to climb the mountain is at night so that you can watch the sunrise from the peak.

hey there say, spider... oh my... i am trying to imagine, HOW any building of anysort, whewwwww, is ever done, as to these things, oh myyyyy,
:)
edit:
tried to find some history on it all, as to building, but did not find any... only thing i DID find, was an article that mentioned that the newest stuff was put up in the 1980's for to cater to more of the tourist, and for their younger folks, of china, as well, as:
folks were wanting to do this more than ever before...

Seriously that place needs a live web cam. There have to be some spots
that bottleneck and people start doing very stupid moves.
Nothing quite like tourists hanging from rusty cliff chains to generate views.
Advertising opportunities!
