Getting close to splitter cracks, bold top ropes, desert sunsets and alcohol fueled brazen lies told around a crackling campfire. Let the games begin!
I have secured a large, private campsite replete with cottonwood trees and a resident badger.
It's in the Cottonwoods Camping area within walking distance of Way Rambo and Sabbatical Crags and closer to Super Crack/Battle of the Bulge areas than Creek Pasture.
Directions: Turn West on 211 off of 191, forty miles South of Moab. Go 20.5 miles to the Beef Basin turnoff. You will pass the Super Crack parking area 3.8 miles before the turn.
Proceed for 4.9 miles on the Beef Basin road and then make a sharp left turn on to road 1041. After a quarter of a mile you will cross Cottonwood Creek. Go 100 more feet and turn right into the campsite.
The campsite has ample parking and tent sites and a great central cooking area and fire ring. Cottonwoods abound and the stream is nearby, it is also very private, no other camping area is visible, and very scenic.
Do not bring firewood (I have plenty) but do bring water. You may want to bring wag bags.
The campsite will be available from Thursday 4/30 thru Monday night 5/4. On Saturday night renowned outdoor chef Darrin Reay will be doing his famous pit turkey....better even than mom's! You will need to provide your own side dishes. You will need to cook your other meals.
On Saturday I will be doing a crack climbing clinic for anyone who is interested.
I'm looking forward to a great time. For those new to the Creek.....be prepared to be impressed!
Edit....Post up when you see this so that I know that everyone is informed.

Jim, Thanks for the directions.
I'll be staying at the Blue Mountain Horsehead Inn in Monticello, arriving Thursday PM.
What time should I show up at the campsite Friday AM so as not to miss the group heading out for the day?

I'll be there midday Thursday. Coming by myself, so I'll be looking for climbing partners.
There are two creek crossings to contend with in getting to the campsite. Most vehicles should be able to negotiate them, but beware if you have a particularly low-lying vehicle.

James and I will arrive Friday PM (with dog Oliver). The poor lad has to work Thursday.
I'm still on "medical disability" so won't be climbing but I'll bring my full rack to help flesh out the required camlist for others. James would love to improve his crack skills.
Thanks for setting this up Jim.
See y'awwwl soon.

Eeyonkee, a number of us are coming without partners, including myself. I think the plan is to go to an area where we can climb as a group and trade ropes.

Me and mine headin' down that way too. We'll also be staying in Monticello.
How late with the campfire be on Friday night? We'll be driving down from SLC and could arrive post 9pm.
Not sure our gameplan...hiking, climbing, canyons...all options. Haven't been to the crick in awhile.
Do you know how to tell its springtime in Indian Creek? All the license plates turn green...
Ha ha.

Very informed. Seems like my friend will be able to attend as well. Prepare for serious fun and for serious wine nights. We will need something good to make the pain from cranking go away for a few hours.

Serious wine nights? In Utah? Better load up on seriousness before you leave home.

Most vehicles should be able to negotiate them, but beware if you have a particularly low-lying vehicle.
At the 2nd crossing there is a little pullout that a car can park and someone can shuttle them across or just wade across if it seems sketchy. Basically the campground is right past this crossing. This past weekend there was quite a bit of rain and even most 2 wheel vehicles were able to cross.

Brian, IC may physically be in Utah but culturally it's pure Rado. Ha ha....thought you might like that sentiment.
We will be at the campfire at 9:00 PM debating that issue.
Hmmm....a similar corollary can be applied to the COR.
Susan...as of yesterday the crossing was not an issue.

Yeah, Jim, well, I guess the Salt Lakers are still tryin' to sniff out the good ski lines at the Creek...
Yeah, phylp, thanks for the lodging tip! Who could refuse a Horsehead Hotel? Geez...I surfed a few Moab prices...yikes...!
