Having a debate over here. Is it just CA bias or is The Needles really the best there is?

Index.

Squamish is awesome as is the Valley and the Needles. But damn, Index has a way of being OnYa.

The Needles is indeed incredible.

But for sheer quality, quantity, height, access, variety, you can't beat Yosemite. Is someone seriously in this debate saying the Needles is better?

Let's say in area Zombex, I have one crack that is considered the best in the world. So I can now say that Zombex has the worlds best crack climbing?

"Best" means quality.

The Needles are grade A, top notch, the finest.

And that applies to basically EVERY route there.

But we're all entitled to opinions.

For sheer concentration, I would say Index.

For length of quality cracks - Yosemite.

For setting, The Needles.

Indeed. So I was correct then, Zombex DOES have the worlds best crack, even if there's only one of them.

I say the valley's quality, quantity and variety trumps Zombex, but that's only my lowly opinion.

On Belay!!

Never been to index but the pictures look incredible and the granite looks fine-grained and perfect.

I haven't had a ton of experience in the Needles or Yosemite but I have been less impressed by Yosemite cracks than I though I would be given the reputation. Seems like there are good crack sections on climbs or one-pitch wonders but not a ton of long, sustained nice cracks. I know they're there, but considering the amount of rock I though there would be more. Everything I've done at the Needles (not much) was beautiful cracks bottom to top.

But, it's a big world...

Mali Africa.

Unbelievable climbing with zillions of new routes to do

Unbelievably horrendous hot, disgusting climate with no food and water.

No sane person really wants to go there.

That's why I went, because I'm insane .....
