We went up Tahquitz on Saturday, perfect day, around 72 degrees. The approach kills my lungs, the descent my knees. I'd carry two packs up if someone would carry them back down. Just too much weight on my knees on the descent... no cartilage left, just bone on bone. I always say Tahquitz would be perfect for me if I could just get a helicopter ride off the top. :) So saturday one of my friends says you wouldn't need a heli if they'd put a zipline up here. A zipline? How cool would that be?! Anyway like it or not, you know it's going to happen... about 50 years from now when I'm long gone... kids will be ziplining down talking about the crazy guys they read about in books that used to hike down the descent.

Haven't been up there for a few years now, but you are correct. The descent always killed my knees

By then though the approach hike will be replaced by a 500' dirty chimney.

BTW The ICA will have the Access Fund trail crew up there May 1st thru the 3rd to work on the Lunch Rock trail.

We could use a couple of more hands that Friday thru Sunday. We are really interested in just a few more hands with some trail building experience, not a large group.

Contact me if interested.

Sunday May 17th will be the yearly trail/clean up day, BBQ and auction.

No Fing way there will be a zipline up there.

If it does happen and I'm still alive please kill me.

Well, somebody installed a bunch of slackline bolts at the top of Suicide a few years ago...cut down at least one tree/snag to make for a better 'line' & Facebook pics. Can a zipline be that far off?

That wasn't them.

Not sure who did that.

As far as I know the Access fund has done no work on the Suicide trail for a long time other than the steps.

Nah probably no zipline needed. . . .but reflectors for the descent -that would be reasonable.

I don't know about a zipline, but we've speculated the possibility of rappelling from Lunch Rock to the parking lot.

Trekking poles! I don't have cartilage in my right knee and they're a life saver.

Zip lines are way more fun that trekking poles though

We just need some Sherpas up there to carry down our packs and a couple to "guide" us down in Sherpa style.
