Ice 2020
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TraDaw58ZYc

It is 2020. Findings by environmental scientist Professor Thom Archer suggest that Halo, the corporate energy company drilling on the Greenland Glacier are causing it to melt. Archer's warnings are ignored, so he heads to the Arctic to find indisputable evidence. Upon arrival, he realizes humankind is under immediate threat, and races home to save his family. The glacier collapses, with devastating consequences. Astonishing weather patterns emerge and plunge the world's temperatures into steep decline.

Again, criticism is not my job. I watched the first seven of this. I'm still deciding, is it worth my time?

In this seven minutes leading up to the title & opening credits the scenario is set, we see some good scenery, are reminded that we are pretty stupid animals, and that it's not fun being in crevasses.

The Daily Furnace's "Lifestyles" is a weekend edition feature, though it may appear at random, too.

A haiku does not rhyme.
If it does it is no crime.

There's a hush all over the world tonight.
Hush, my darling, don't you cry.

Time for another Oakdale Climbers Festival or something similar real soon!
--Steve Grossman

Or something.Canasta, anyone?

The blood-stained Snelling Hotel was washed away in the disastrous flood of 1862. It had rained more than 40 days in Merced County before the swollen Merced River flooded the town of Snelling on Jan. 11, 1862. The Snelling Hotel was filled with trapped travelers including the McKean Buchanan Theatre Company, a well-known traveling theater group. When the hotel began to shake because of the roaring waves, the hotel guests and keepers took refuge on a large oak tree next to the hotel. After they were ferried to safety, the hotel and the tree were carried away by the floodwater.

The date is off by 100 years. Bell was born in 1854 in Manitoba.

"He [CN Bell] was famous for having skated from Winnipeg to Selkirk on the Red River in just two and one quarter hours in 1877, and he was also a talented figure skater. He coached speed skater Jack McCulloch, who won the 1897 World Speed Skating Championship in Montréal, and he is credited with having introduced figure skating into western Canada."

"All skate."
