The Trabant /trəˈbɑːnt/ is an automobile that was produced from 1957 to 1990 by former East German auto maker VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke Zwickau in Zwickau, Saxony.

It is often regarded as a symbol of the defunct East Germany, and of the collapse of the Eastern Bloc in general. The car was known for being uncomfortable, slow, noisy, and dirty. Nevertheless, it was very sought after in East Germany before the fall of the Berlin Wall, with a waiting period for the purchase of a new Trabant lasting more than a decade. It had a hard plastic body, mounted to a single-piece steel chassis (a so-called unibody or monocoque), front-wheel drive, a transversely-mounted engine, and independent suspension, features unusual for the era.

Dubbed a "spark plug with a roof", the Trabant was produced for nearly 30 years with almost no significant changes to its design. 3,096,099 vehicles were produced in total.[3] Older models of the car later became popular among collectors in the United States due to their low cost and the fewer restrictions on importing antique cars. The Trabant also gained a following among car tuning enthusiasts and for use in rally racing and other motorsports.

The Mouse's Birth-day is 5/25

The above data is poorly-researched writing, not fake news.

I am, in fact, one day older.

I was so much younger then
I'm younger than that now

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fools_Crow

You may have noticed (ahemmm...) that James Welch is featured on today's Google masthead.

It reminded me that this book, Fools Crow, was one I read long ago. I recall that I liked it well enough to finish it, but back then I was reading at least two books a week, or so it seems.

Anyway, you may like this title. It is a long time since my reading of it, and I don't recall the story line, and I couldn't have told you anything about it before seeing the Wiki page, but I remember the title.

Good old Mr. Google.

Here's a story for you while you eat your Wheaties this morning.
I hope that's not all you're having. Eat some fruit, too.

The Studebaker Story.
"To me, the gasoline auto is a clumsy, dangerous, noisy brute of a vehicle.
People will be killed.
If cars are using steam, they'll blow up.
If electric, they'll run down.
If using gas, they'll catch fire."

I tried to be a friend to Tommy T. He's got an attitude, however, and it really rubbed me the wrong way last night.

Recently, I've been trying to take better care of myself...more rest, less stress, better food and smaller portions, brisk walks, etc.

Tommy got on my case last night as he was about to take a shower and the upper bunk but his mouth got in the way.

He began chastising me over little things, things you would NEVER think of objecting to, and I took umbrage.

In short, I told him to leave and never darken my door again.

Stress like this, I do not need. This is, after all, my house, and he's a jerk. End of story. My BP is 91/75. Weight is 168.5 pounds.

Is a 10 pee-em opening on the back nine okay, sir?

It shouldn't be crowded out there--ideal for a conversation in a NORMAL speaking voice...

Nighttime indoors golf is finally taking off, you know.

It's predicted that soon it'll be bigger than rock gyms and bowling.

But it'll never touch NASCAR's numbers, I don't think, not without national TV network coverage.

That Bonnie. The bonnie Bonnie.

,,,,

And so the day got mellow and the temp rose to nearly balmy.

Wearing my new down vest and a thick cotton T-shirt, I rambled outside from two to five. Not a golf ball was in sight, nor wind to blow them off course.

Had lunch with Scottie earlier at the Cinema. He has some bad news, I'm afraid. He and Jennie are divorcing after about 15 years.

I'm still processing this crusher.

Scottie's being stouthearted and realistic. He has a very good job, is going places, and getting to know people well who are on planning bodies, city council, etc., and will be okay, I feel. As I said, he's sanguine about this situation.

And that piece of news puts the fire at Reinero's joint this afternoon in the shade. The fire was under control very quickly, the response was heavy with four trucks. I'd been parked under a tree on the corner shooting traffic and pigeons and had gone into the lobby of Middle Earth to sit on the bench and look through the shots I'd been taking when John Decker rode up to the front door and beckoned me outside, telling me of the fire that had just started...John had passed me on the sidewalk as I sat taking pix and we'd said hi not ten minutes earlier.

I went round to the rear entrance, as the sidewalk was crowded with two trucks and traffic. The captain in charge told me he had a pretty good idea of how this fire began from witnesses. It did not do much damage, due to the fast and heavy response.
