I always wanted to go to Skye.
an Isle of dreams in the seas off the coast Of Scotland
Alass this has never come to pass,
but now with the wonders of the Interwebz
Im able to see but not to get my nose wet.
slow & filmed from far away there is another.
Also a bit like watching paint dry,
without the raw feel of the wind you hear,
But it is a climb I knew was there
In Skye

[Click to View YouTube Video]Wao! they never get it done, that is not very Scottish of them,
Where is the drive? the stoic 'get it finished come hell or High water' that is so evident
In the ball of energy from Scottish genes that we all know as the woman who could not let El Cap stand un- free climbed/ ( L H )

What is in the link? not more paint drying with no summit, but a fly over of the region, including the Big Ben Nevis

As the world turns and I fire up my whamoblamo,
it seems that no amount of trying
gets the mind to stop climbing.
I've got a lot of living to do
and topo tapping takes some time to compose,
I nose it like the one on my face,
I wish I could just come and go
race up the Nose of El Cap,
Just like that,
at the drop of a hat
sadly
Times have changed
Time has Changed me some too.

What is PharPhar? What are those fruits? Who gets to stuff pineapple into the olive looking things ?

I played that Big bad John, from 1961, thinking of you, z, the early influences of

The last time I sprayed directly it seemed weak sauce, but did you ever get to meet the guy?
It was a strange thing his reluctant place at the head of the table.
He laughed some but never deeply in public,
he was actually a bit shy.
He called me the Short Stranger,
I like to think he liked me.

That sort of thing gets me an extra pinch more in the sak when I'm in the right neighborhood. . .
Not to be confused with a pinch in the sak, when in the Tenderloin a neighborhood
in the city by the bay. . .

So now I've used the N word, (caught it and deleted that) & made an off the cuff
(Homophobic?) comment. . . throw that away? and the whole post falls apart. . . So it stays
( for now )

I had a very close friend, one of the people laid low mentally by drug abuse, who lived for a short time after the big North Ridge? Quake in the 90s, in a basement apartment.
so street level in the Tenderlion, in SF. I visited, I tried to stop the 3am delivery

Strange twists, the seller of the dope to the Shiva Dancing drummer

He got me high, it made me puke my guts out,

No Chasin' the Dragon for No me.

I used to go climbing in California every year(a sister, lives LA area)
till I started to work, teaching climbing in the Gunks in the 90s.
( Mnt Skills, and independent)
At over 50 years old you would think I wouldn't need to spray. . .

The trade-offs of having climbed from the 70s till now, is that
I've gotten to see & join in the swell of modern climbing's rise.
Like a wave, a series of ever growing waves of well trained strong climbers
that have added so much depth to all the climbing pursuits,
as the tools of the game changed and came of age as well...

All while the passage of time,
life,
drags me from away from the only thing
I ever really wanted to do,
go climbing.

Missing

uot no, "out for far far to long" is a phar cry phrom what i1st read
Typos across the universe

Seems a silly thing to go on about

I've now tried and not succeeded in using pay-pal, some liquid hit
Hooray it saved not just my bake-on, but I can pay the back tax too. . .
It is a thing they do here - a tax on the car,

If you don't know to pay when you get your Smog ( this was a strange typo: erotically?)

When you get your Smog certification there is a -pay tax- widow that I neglected to fill in.
That stared the zippering of all my driving privileges.

The way it went down was this
I pulled up the highway on-ramp, passing the state trooper at the top , in the left break down lane. His spot to look for violate tours (I may not fix that? ) by letting his cameras do the looking.

We passed that stooge at 30 mph, and were 20 miles on When, like a bat out of hell at 110 mph, he came up on my back end lights flashing.

He thought that I was a big bust, what with a reported suspended registration & license.
He held us in the heat on the side of the 18wheeler screaming by ya, highway for an hour.
He could have yanked us, impounded the car, locked me up, for history & let someone else sort it out.
He did none of those life changing things, - thank Jhayway !

The bust was made so much worse by my sweetly not being able to
STFU
Real for reals he, the cop, had to tell her 4 times. Then, with the last warning, he got pissed & threatened to yank her from the car & charge her with obstruction.

When I was a broke-neck drooler, she was my legal proxy. So it is second nature for her to speak to authorities for me, old habits that won't be put on the shelf.

Not Sugar magnolia but it is way to late, I'm not throwing her back,
Fish in the sea reference pu, push, please. . .

So I will get the registration Squared , pay $ pay, then with that proof, tell the prosecutor
As much, hope the cop doesn't show up, and hope that charges for suspended licensed
driving get dropped

You have you troubles I've got mine?. ., not even in the same ballpark.

Y'know, Gnome, sittin' behind a keyboard and philoopsisizing about our favorite endeavor (call it pastime, avocation, hobby, or sport) is like, I dunno, y'know?

Memory sockeyes swimming up Memory Creek don't need paddles. They just need old pha-a-a-ar-r-r-rts (that was a good one!) like us to call them back.

In order for me to have been a "real dirtbag" I'd have been better off in the single state, not married (won't go into that) like I was. There was not enough freedom and I could have used more. Nothing against the wench, it was simply a poor choice for each...I had no forward vision that kept me on the Road to El Cap, say. (Thank you Joe Fitschen.)
http://www.joefitschen.com/going-up

Coupled with the inner turmoil (a disappointment in my father's and mother's eyes, a unwed dad, a college drop-out, a Navy toss-out, a climber with no thumb) came the rising waters (how high they gonna get, mamma?) of realization that I had made a big "oopsie" once more.

I had become pretty dependent on her, she later realized that she had become dependent on me.

By the time we'd been through two miscarriages I was, I suppose, more disposed to want to go fishing or play golf. I still climbed but only sporadically after '74 when I hit the jackpot with El Cap, Shasta, and Half Dome, My Big Three, My Spray Bouquet.

Now ABSOLUTELY FREE of this monkey on my back, I was free to become the Mister, totally, but she'd begun to become the toy of others who filled her with ideas. All of her needs I could not fulfill and deep secrets became part of it all, while we addressed the issue by attending a Marriage Encounter weekend and hosting a Love Circle in our home and attending others elsewhere. Yet another idea foisted on us by her well-meaning in-laws, one of whom was my old climbing partner, Ike.

One day the dam broke and I floated down the stream, a spent man.

I reveled in the freedom and went about things in completely the wrong way, not thinking, but simply reacting. Mostly it was financial needs and obligations that kept me swirling in eddies and getting even more confused, so that I washed up in Merced, no longer a home, just a hospital run by the folks for injured kids and their progeny.

By that time, now having a messed-up eye and an overweight 4 year-old girl, I didn't know or care if I might go climbing again. Its role had gradually lost its importance to me over all this time. Or I would have made more of an effort to do it.

Yeah, I did it to myself and went about it all wrong. I could have done better by climbing. I didn't and have regrets, especially now, when I see all that has been done by all the DEDICATED people who really earned some respect by DOING IT ON THE ROCK and putting up with the annoying fact that we need to make a living.

Back when I was in C4 I did not consider myself a "dirtbag." I was, though, for a time. I was not, obviously, willing to lead that lifestyle or I'd have done so instead of what I actually did.

And now I see all this with splarking Cleare-ness.

I f*#kin' missed the boat, hoisted my own damn petard, and killed C*#k Robin.

I blame Fate in a fickle way. Sometimes I blamed Dolores. But that's between you, me, and the enntrance kiosk bulletin board.

No pix for this.

Here's two cents for this nonsense.

Word for Word

There's no need for rising
But you have work to do
I tell myself go at my speed
No one can be urging you to
Wake up
Wake up
Wake up
Wake up

I tell myself what to do
Remembering the whole day through
Word for word
It's easy too
Wake up
Wake up
Wake up
Wake up

I'm not surprised
By what the world expects
Just disconcerting
To accept what's next
Wake up
Wake up
Wake up
Wake up

Let me tell you what to do
I hear all day long
And tell myself to hear them...out
Then play my tune and sing my song
Wake up
Wake up
Wake up
Wake up

You might think I m crazy
When cursing myself like a nut
Though everybody does it
Some don't listen but
Wake up
Wake up
Wake up
Wake up

Every body does it
Talking to themselves all the time
While some act on it word for word
I only do it on my own dime
Wake up
Wake up
Wake up
Wake up

As excellent as we might think
Who is speaking when we speak
Deluded by our best ideas
Or mentored at our mental peak?
Wake up
Wake up
Wake up
Wake up

No, I take it back, the Bill Walton issue, the entire Back & forth, Kind of can tell that it is on, for a moment.

The wife pointed to 2 twenty- somethings and was not discreet, she said to me,
"What has happened to the girls asses? the Kardashian thing can't be taking over".\
"When we were in our 20s the world's butts seemed more toned & less fat".

This time last year I found the natural beauty in the grocery store
both the wife and I have noticed that there is a real derth of Statuesque,
stunningly beautiful people around here lately

And now for breaking news, who's up for some Kern?
