Maybe, if there'd been a bridge across the Red Sea, then Pharaoh's army would not have drowned, Mosaic Law never would have come about, and there would be no Ten Commandments, no Christians, and no missionaries.

Maybe. But I doubt it.

"Moses here's a Who, but he don't look Whoish."
Here is what the corner of N & Main looked like before the Cinema Cafe and its present building were built. This town has more switcheroos with names on streets and buildings than I care to enumerate.
J St. is Martin Luther King Jr. Way, L has retro-ed to Canal St., M was Huffman, Main was 17th, then Main, then 17th, and now it's Main again.

Merced HS became East Campus, El Capitan HS became North Campus. Now there is another El Capitan HS on G St, like its predecessor. And G St is known variously as G Grade, Snelling Highway, and J-16.
Time passes slowly in Mariposa, and things take a long time to change.

There is a line dividing the lanes of the highway now. But there is still no stop light in Mariposa Town. In fact, the only stoplights in the entire county are the ones at the Ferguson Slide bridge going into Yosemite on the Merced River.

Um, might THAT be the bridge you're lookin' for, babe?

I'm so "wearing clothes" that you liked it.
cue Cream...I'm So Clad

donino's probably much too "browed" to come here to The Flames.
cue Tina Turner...Browed Mary

He might get lampooned.

Aw, gee. Like Sherry refrained from dishing it out to Robbins, Pratt, et al.

The masochist, the pure guru--
Don't let his "stoke" be part of you.
He's Coloradan don't you know?
He's not some innocent from Idaho.
His piper call you should ignore.
You can't be sure of what's in store.
Good times today, sandbag tomorrow.
You will learn, to your great sorrow.

All the Flames' best, Jim.
You have become "The Man" around here, the big Kahuna, and you live up to that billing.

Smile, dang ya!

Say, "Hard cheese or somethin'."

And that was just a sample from Tuesday.

Flaming pig-bird.

Harley softail.
"It's too loud."

Depends on where it is & who's riding.

In the woods and rural abodes of hard-working men and women who've invested life savings in homes AWAY from such noise-makers (not all bikes roar--they have cool owners), the rapping of pipes and blasting all in earshot with waves of scary, powerful NOISE is a terrible breach of manners.

Protestant home-owners unite! Smite the heathens, the pagans, the dirty angels, the schmoes, the low-down skunks, and the Modified Motorcycle Ass's throughout the land in the name of sanity and quiet living.

Interview - Robs John Muir

I don't recall who sent whom a FB friend request. Don't matter, it's been fun making R J's acquaintance.

Got a lot of respect for his bike-riding stamina, not to mention his climbing record.
Cheers, Robs John!

Snagged off of Robs' FB pages.Throwback Thursday: A twenty-year-old leading the second—and crux A4 pitch—-
on The West Face of El Capitan (V 5.9 A4 FA: TM Herbert and Royal Robbins, 1967)
back when the route was still a big-wall aid climb.
The scary expando flake, hooks and wire loops over nubbins, and no fixed gear or bolts anywhere…
Probably the sixth ascent, circa 1972.

I call it "Thread Surfing."

I'll see a link in a thread that points to another thread.

Curious, I'll click to go there.

I'm reading that post to which I've been directed and decide to scroll back to the get-go and sooner or later up pops a link to another post.

So I quickly scan the rest of the thread which I'm reading, then click back to the thread link and I go there.

This process is repeatable indefinitely.

I'm sure you've been there or will go there sometime.

Curiosity has not killed me yet.

It's really similar to levels in an electronic game.
