As far as Mr. Honnold goes, isn't he a gym climber? And I have never seen him with an ice axe?
Think about it, or don't.

A woman can be said to be a fool-maker of primates.* We just better leave that topic alone, though, shall we?
Primates tool use has gotten out of hand.
When it comes to tools (Makita, Fasetenal, Stanley, etc.) there's no bigger fool than the Reverend Mathis, who dropped in the other day. He was doing some handyman work at his mom's and took a break when his sister Julie came by and went shopping with mom. Jeff had lumber to pick up, but not till the next day.
So we do what we do. We headed for a taco wagon, since it was lunch-thirty. We saw a long string of emergency vehicles, like ten or more, heading out of town on Hwy. 59 while we sat munching tacos, so we decided that we would give chase, but not till we'd finished. We slow-cruisers cannot be rushed.

tried to get an old camera program to work, as sadly, my newer one, is not...
though the 'computer's own' does work, but won't do certain neat things...

"Why be afraid of women as a topic?" is what I asked myself when I thought about it some.
I said that partly, mostly, in jest. Women do wonderful things and they have a firm foothold in the history of climbing.
I found this short re-cap of their history as climbers and am dropping the link here.

I haven't heard of some of these ladies, so I should find some time to look them up and acquaint myself with their stories.
Medical update: My surgery is likely going to be a week from Monday.
I go to Palo Alto this Monday for a Pulmonary Function test. I will have a cardio-catheter procedure on Wednesday which will tell if I need a bypass as well as a mitral valve repair. I'll be admitted after that test and for the next days, Thurs-Mon, I'll be receiving injections of Enoxoparin as my system adjusts to not having Warfarin in it (blood anti-coagulant). This is to ensure I don't bleed out during the surgery and to allow me to gradually re-adjust to the Warfarin following the procedure with no loss of effectiveness on the part of the Warfarin.
Rehab takes however long it takes.
Modern medical science is as complicated as the tool-makers and Big Pharma can make it.
One could make similar statements about modern climbing, but that would be something I'm not really qualified to judge. It was bad enough when I had to learn which was a short thick and which was a medium thick horizontal, etc.

Just now heard from the last peg going into the last hole. I have my ride to Los Banos, allowing me to catch the VA shuttle to Palo Alto. I have two nights stay at the Defenders Lodge (meals not included), plus the procedures and hospital stay all sewn up.
Now I can relax a few days.
hooblie, I'll keep being "a good boy." I want to live up to what Nana stitched onto my Christmas stocking, right? "For a Good Boy."
