You somehow should have been allowed to come along for the backseat spot, Gnome, and were miracles still a dime, I'd have arranged it. You could have traded climbing and past sexual experiences with the fur-bearin' barbarian from the OC. This is what guys do when on the road and getting acquainted, as we know.
Barbarian and I found also an out-of-the-way crag to explore when sometime we get a breather from our hectic schedules. Maybe you could join us sometime.
Here's a shot of it.
We never got really close. There is an approach which may be a smallish problem. The main thing is to take enough water, so three is a better number than two, though it adds a rope to the overall weight.
I'll leave any of the driving to you two.
OK, that's the fantasy. The reality is that it's just Half Dome, not some unknown crag out in the boondocks. If you can't have a bit of fun with an iconic rock, where is fun to be had?
There is no fun in water-skiing on a barely-flowing river traversing a dry lake bed.
I'm not done, not by half. I need to take a break, though.

I must say that Scoot the Barbarian has a lot of entertaining stories of his time climbing. And he's a bawd. He's the equivalent of one of the Red Hat Ladies, if ya know who they are.
We trucked it up after this, keeping on the move, for the most part, delighted to find that, once we got out of the Bagby Trench and into Bear Valley, the county had repaved many many miles of Hwy. 49 from BV and on into Mariposa town.
EXCELLENT JOB, Mariposa Caltrans guys! It's a great spot, the Airport Inn.I wonder what's going on there.
One more time. Thanks, Scott! Now go wash your car!

Imagine, if you will, that they would tolerate this in Yosemite Park or Arlington National Cemetery, even, where they'd have no complaints, probably.
the Rev made most of the dough for paying off his house by helping construct an ambulance station over on I-5. Work over in Patterson all week, come home and take care of stuff, then head back Monday morning till the next Friday afternoon. Plus mileage. Plus a rack. Plus a meal allowance.
