Yep, I have them and they are just SO WARM and just the right size
to take up some room in a pair of loafers that I love wearing cuz they were my dad's.

And that's no idle yarn. :0)

To Build a Home

There is a house built out of stone
Wooden floors, walls and window sills
Tables and chairs worn by all of the dust
This is a place where I don't feel alone
This is a place where I feel at home
'Cause, I built a home
For you
For me
Until it disappeared
From me
From you
And now, it's time to leave and turn to dust

Out in the garden where we planted the seeds
There is a tree as old as me
Branches were sewn by the color of green
Ground had arose and passed it's knees
By the cracks of the skin I climbed to the top
I climbed the tree to see the world
When the gusts came around to blow me down
I held on as tightly as you held onto me
I held on as tightly as you held onto me
And, I built a home
For you
For me
Until it disappeared
From me
From you
And now, it's time to leave and turn to dust

Perfect timing means we are in synch.
This much is obvious to the most casual observer.
We just be livin' right, bushman.

A stranger walked into my bar

I was sitting in my spot in The Green Room.
I had a new drink.
I sure wanted some company.
No one else besides Wrongway Ron, the barkeep, was around.
The only thing on the TV was a breakdown of the stupid Acadamy Awards--
how the no-host thing went down with the women of The Talk.
"Who in hell cares?" I asked.
"I sure in hell don't," I answered.
"Well, what in God's name are you doing in a bar at ten in the morning, Dude?"
This voice was on my right.
I'd been talking to myself on my left.
I turned around on the high stool and there was a stranger sitting there.
I hadn't heard him approach because of that shrieky-voiced TV pseudo-celebrity
with the bad haircut.
He had on a white straw Stetson and was overall a stockman, what with the
tooled boots, large buckle, Wranglers, and long-sleeve heavy shirt.
He even had on a leather vest--stylish with the sweeping handlebar stash.
"Normally, I'm not here this f*#kin' early. Call it a f*#kin' miracle,"
I said as I sipped my drink.
"Jesus, yer crude. How long has it been since you had a whack on the bottom?"
"What's a stranger wanna f*#kin' know for, anyway? You do look somewhat familiar,
I gotta tellya."
I had another go at the Russian and asked, "What are you drinkin', stranger?"
"I'm good, thanks. I've always been good. But you're being a screw-up.
It's my job to steer you along. And don't mind the pun--it's my favorite.
I'm strictly here to kinda get you goin' in the right di-rection again.
I owe yer pa a kindness."
"How is the f*#kin' deity these days? Still a know-it-all?
Still Mister arch-conservative?"
"Yeah, but he loves you, ya peckerhead. He wants you to know that."
"Yet he sent me here to f*#kin' die? C'mon, man! Get f*#kin' real."
"Can you please tone down the rhetoric, Dude? I'm just the messenger."
"So what's the damn message? Hey, Ron, keep the Russians coming, bud."
"Can do, you f*#kin' Jew."
"Ron thinks he's a poet, huh?
Dang it, Dude. You have some rude friends, gotta say.
I also gotta say this:
Respect and reverence are qualities given to a person,
regardless of that person’s level of income and social status,
only after that person has proven to be worthy.
What a person puts inside of his mouth does not make him clean or unclean,
but only the words that person allows to leave his mouth.*
Got that? Now I'm outta here. My job's finished."
"Here's yer drink, ya f*#kin' fink."
That was Ron, delivering my Russian.
I looked at him and nodded.
I took a sip and closed my eyes.
I turned around to my right, and I opened them.
Nobody there.
Not the first time.
Probably not the last.

*The wording of Pantelis Lnpc Dor, a Greek post-grad.
He theorizes that the stranger is Leboswki Deus, or the Supreme Being.
Some of you may not agree with my speculation that the stranger is an angelic being.
Some say his role is that of God Hisself, Lebowski Deus.
I respectfully don't think so.
I ain't buyin' it.

Big Lebowski could have been about ice skating, or drag racing, (IDEA!) or even rock climbing, but it wasn't.

On the road to Sandy Ditch

Along a passage to the sea
on the road to Sandy Ditch
the fungi and the tree moss grows
where birds do rarely chirp off pitch

Some say an old man on the hill
who lived above that winding tract
was a no good or a malcontent
and worse was heard matter of fact

A scientist who’d been defamed
Doc Hertzenberger was his name
he’d done hard time for murder
for grave robbing and for poaching game

No one had gone to the house for years
the gate was locked and barred
all overgrown with trumpet vines
and like a jungle from afar

A preacher who’d been philandering
with men and women from his flock
was on his way to services
and a fate worse than being defrocked

Never thinking he would cross paths
with a man of such ill temperament
his car broke down nearby his home
on a morning that he would lament

A neglect of needed engine service
attributed to the constant itch
for bourbon on a Sunday morn
hence the rendezvous near Sandy Ditch

His auto that once purred smoothly
now sat impotently along the road
the preacher sat and waited there
as fodder for the nematode

Standing immersed in poison oak
an old cow bellowed by the stream
the crows sat at attention
aligned like soldiers in a dream

Then rising from behind the wheel
he thought he heard the tow truck sound
but felt the hairs stand on his neck
sensing someone else was around

As he lifted up the motor hood
his face contorted wrenched with pain
reverberating through the gulch
an ax head struck him in the brain

And as the blood welled at his crown
and wicked along his suit so neat
his lifeless body was dragged away
through underbrush by his two feet

Along the road to Sandy Ditch where
some folks have their bits removed
their contribution’s duly noted
when Doc Hertzenberger’s in the mood

Where you’ll find no trace or evidence
that anyone has lost their way
or there’s ever been a disturbance
on any calm pastoral day

Tim, good stuff but just a bit rough (edges only, though).

One minor niggle, easily enough fixed--

heifer: a young female cow that has not borne a calf.

as for the rest of it

bellowing down by the steam

We interrupt for a public service bulletin.

First, there is no National Emergency. In fact, the National Emergency is a lie, based on a lie, based on a lie.

Mexico is paying for the wall. That’s a lie.

Only a wall will protect the southern border. That’s a lie.

There’s a National Emergency. That’s a lie.

For that reason alone every Republican Senator should vote no.

But, wait, there’s more…and it’s more alarming.

The moment a National Emergency is declared, Donald Trump will be able to act more like a dictator than the leader of the greatest democracy on earth. Trump will have access to 136 provisions that give him control over our country, our lives, our military, with little to stop him including Congress, with the stroke of a pen. It is not hard to imagine what Trump would do with that power based on his record to date, and how much worse it could be, if he is faced with the Mueller Report, indictments or impeachment that threaten his ability to stay in the White House.
