wow... those rocks are great for 'wall making' ...
someday, don't know how... but-- i am making a small garden wall around here... not to keep anyone or, critters, out...
but, well, hee hee hee, for the ol' squirrels and birds to PLAY ON, AND--
for me to just enjoy looking at it...

where did you get those, and how and why, did you start breaking them up?

i am from san jose-- we saw OAKS everywhere... i love oaks and my
mom does too!!
south texas was great, but no oaks... (that i saw) ... however, i
LOVED THE MESQUITE trees... :)
(so do the goats, by the way) ...
now-- HERE IS MICHigan... and they got LOTS of oaks...
not like calif...
but some very nice ones...
here is mine:
will come back and add one from calif...
and, one from my mom's cousin-- in ohio...

Those rocks are in La Crescenta (aka Rock Crescenta) all you have to do is stick a shovel in the ground and there are tons of them.
The pad where the house was built had to be dynamited in order to be flat enough to build on.
All the ones photographed came out of the ground where I dug the footing fo the block wall.
I've always wanted to build a real rock wall, just never found the time.
Lots of rock work in the town. Here's an example.
More rocks at the local "Two Strike" Park. Right near the house.

Tvz definitely had a hard time of it, at times. He sang it though.
Also, nice retaining wall. Those things, um, require some work. Have you thought about using cut stone to cover it? I built a fireplace, bbq, and it was fairly rewarding.
Would be expensive, but if you could figure out how to make some flat faces on your rock pile....
