If it Quacks Like a Duck...

When I thought I had used all the words I had found
only silence remained as the infinite sound
of the questions I had with enough to go Ďround
for the animals that exist on this world spinning round

So I took out my notes and compared what I knew
with the prospect of what I might learn when Iím through
multiplied by the proclivity to constantly spew
as I spiraled back towards the primordial goo

Infected with constantly examining my place
I was born to this world with that look on my face
perplexed by dilemmas and forsaking all grace
I have questioned my origins and vilified my race

To be human and curious Iíve wondered why itís so
that mankind is so clueless and vicious as you know
inflicted by philosophies so numerous ergo
to fight from conception to oblivion weíll go

When I thought I had used all the words that I knew
I realized I knew nothing and words would not do
as time rockets forward from my point of view
Ďtwards some rendezvous with destiny and into the blue

The correct spelling was Orly, not Orley. I somehow have misplaced my copy of Island Magic.

L. John Orly Hitchcock went through some rough times (not as rough as Leon & Clayton mind you, but rough) after the film. (Orly and Sofie were the proud parents). Little Orly did not make sense though.

I know that movie is around here somewhere.

It was a good board though. Can't find out how much it actually went ofr an who got the money.

words are a weapon.

words [are a tampon,] absorbing the expired wisdom
that seeps fluid-like from the mind's assehole"

hooblie, such a geography lesson!

I've known about scablands for a long time but never knew about the National Natural Landmark Monuments program till now, so thanks.

It's the day we go to Modesto.

Gomez should be roaming through shortly; and then we brave the valley fog on 99, though it appears to be lifting.

Hold the fort, guard the bastion, remember to park your bikes off of the driveway, and I'll be back Tuesday.

Reminds me of someone I once knew
Reminds me of someone I once knew

I Hit Myself in the Nose Three Times
or
Was a Time

There was a time
All my heart and all itís yearnings
Was for your hand
I would never know what for
You left me
Standing on the corner heavy traffic
Driving by
You drove right by
Never looking at me
Why oh why

The young man and the old man
Never looked in
Each otherís eyes were the
Same day same time
To learn to know
And know we do not know
Oh oh oh oh
Drumrolls in the airport terminal
Your flight was late
I bought a mocha

Down at the corner where
We met and talked until
The second you left I panicked
I thought Iíd never be
That lone wolf
Stalking someone I thought loved me
For who I am
Donít try to remake me
Thatís not gonna happen
Thatís not me

I worked for years on 14th & D streets. I daydreamed about stealing the Modesto welcome arch and getting away with the caper clean. Then having it show up some place weird like Camp 4. I wanted to write a short story about it but I could never quite conceive of how to pull off the caper.

I'm just not smart enough to be a criminal I guess.

Close as I could come would be, on a very foggy night, cause a distraction on the other side of town and while that's going on, pull a boom / sign lift truck up under the arch, then have two people simultaneously cut away the supports. Lift it and drive it off to a staging area / nearby warehouse for phase 2 transport.

ps. It's a big f*#king sign!

Among them was this ancient teenager, brought to the shindig by Bonnie Kamps with the help of Andy Lichtman. For me, meeting Freewheelin' Frank and Lynn Hill were the highlights of that revelry. Much wine was consumed both here and in our motel room. Tom Cochrane, Ron, and myself enjoyed our evening with Dave Yerian and Lynnie.
