For those who don't know, NORTHSIDE DRIVE is now open and traffic is returned to "normal,"
which is to say "pathetic" because I witnessed a ten-minute wait TO GET OUT of the parking lot
behind the Village Store this weekend.

There was a layer of gray rock dust on the road, now cleaned off,
and the leaves of trees are coated with it so they look silvery.

FWIW, Dingus, I can't see your pic because my computer's infected with a stinkin' virus
and it's slow and doin' weird things lately.

There, got it. I need to click on stuff twice or more to make things happen,
or to go back to a previous screen and try again, apparently.

That's an interesting display. Track workers transport.

The Little Train is trapped and caged behind a chain link fence. The tracks of the old Eldorado Latrobe Line run through an open area now being developed for hundreds of new homes. Due to construction the tracks are blocked on both sides of the Little Train. It is literally trapped in this spot and locked in a cage, surrounded by loud bossy D10s and heartless foremen in pickup trucks.

It seems no one cares for the Little Train and its lost and forgotten. The main train back in the yard in Folsom wonders from time to time, but trains can't hold a thought for all that long if you see what I am saying.

Here is where they covered over the tracks

There is hope for the train and for the railroad. Some old dogs have been restoring the line for years with the intention of running the old steam engines in Folsom up to Eldorado once more. It would be pretty dang cool if they built a train station near these new houses to be....

FACELIFT CANCELLED!!!!!

Yes, I'm opting out this year. I just don't feel healthy enough to go and have sent in a cancellation notice to the reservationists Allyson and Linda.

My thoughts are that I'm too heavy, I haven't been able to lose the weight, and why put myself in the sh!t if I don't have to?

I KNOW the signs of Congestive Heart Failure and these are those. My legs are visibly swollen. My weight's off the charts. My breath is hard to catch. BP is nearly normal, but consistently off by some.

I'm playing the odds and just hoping this doesn't get worse or I may have to go to the ER.

So, this means I may only attend the Meatfest, like I did two years ago. I do want to see the gang and take some pics. I can hang one night with little risk to my health, certainly.

Robert Burns, how right you were.

Im sincerely glaD THAT YOU MADE IT TO THE 'LIFT, AS THE RETURN TO THE GLORY OF THE UNIVERSE, trHAT HEAVENLY vALLEY, iS AN UP-LIFTING THING

Yes, Dingus. My weight skyrocketed when I got back from AZ and UT and as a consequence, other things--breathing difficulty when walking or trying to sleep and my energy level--went south due to lack of sleep due to breathing difficulty.

I had no inclination to spend a week at Facelift in that state. It was hard enough to move around on a gradient using a walker in YV this weekend. I'm feeling lots better, down by several pounds now, and facing some rigorous choices about my diet this month and am forcing myself to go exercise by walking, at the least.

The traffic in YV this weekend was HORRENDOUS!

I sat in the car in the Village Store lot while ice was being sought by the driver. I watched the parade trying to get out of the lot the whole time.

The white van moved in and the jam got frozen, gridlocked. It took that van nearly twenty minutes to exit.

Loathing the idea of joining that herd and watching the ice melt, we elected to go the opposite way, to the left, and drove around behind Degnans, cutting off how many hours of waiting I don't know. This despite the signs restricting entry to that route which takes one thru the residences, but we were on a mission, not a divine mission, but still...

We "zipped" right down past the bridge over Yosemite Creek only to be stopped (briefly) for the herds crossing twixt the Falls and the Lodge at the Falls. There were two personnel assigned at this crosswalk. TWO! One directing traffic and one holding the herd at bay until it was allowed to cross.

Then it was a matter of negotiating Northside Dr. safely past the rockfall--you NEVER KNOW...

And finally, at last, the ice was secure, the beer free, and the day was safe. But we had to send Rodger to the store for yet more ice.

Jon BECK, driver of the vehicle, kudos!!!

Brokedown Climber, more kudos, sir!!!

It is as if
the energy expended on
the new story
only increased
the restless physical energy
which he had to expel
in violent exercise,

overhanging the wild sea-beach.'

Idle thinking, likely caused by not enough invigoration from violent exercise

How to negate the 'romance' of old Camp 4--

There used to be, according to Roper, two heads in camp, Head One and Head Two.
The newest 'plan' for improving Camp 4 labels these havens for flies and cold climbers as 'Comfort Stations.'
Gentrification and Political Correctness go hand in hand, it seems to me.

And nobody but me really gives a sh!t. The showers will be welcome, though.
