Fium'Orbu from Corsica
This rare, washed sheep from Corsica is a real treat.
The power of sheep's milk coupled with a strong washed rind means a rich, fatty paste that's also super stank.
It's like eating rancid bacon fat and mayo, and loving it.

Monterey Jack - Originated in Central California, now made all over America

Attributed to David Jacks, a Scotsman who made a fortune selling it to 49ers.

Jack cheese was probably based on traditional cheeses made by the monks and Spanish settlers who called early 19th century California home.

Now there is no mistaking the classic tang of this delightful snacking cheese.

Of course you want to avoid the bland industrial products. Go for the Sonoma Jack brand, or the grand daddy of them all: Vella Jack. In particular, seek out Vella's Dry Jack. It's aged till the cheese is salty and crumbly, more like a grana than the wet jack we all know.

Poem Grinder

The metal bucket sits
awaiting broken bits
of verse that doesn’t scan
--it’s my garble can.

This poet’s straining wit
by a low watt bulb is lit
on a dark and lonely night
--not one raven is in sight.

Images are therein piled
at which I once smiled
but they wouldn’t please a child
--it’s driving me quite wild.

I fear that they may go to waste
having been born in my great haste
so I’m recycling some of these
my ego to appease.

The cat and the pussy cat
Jumped over the moon.
The candlestick maker
Wed a noisy Quaker.

Cat-like, the noisome bank of fog
comes slinking round just like a dog
and stinks just like some great dead old hog
in a tired city of slumping shoulders.

I’ll post this on the cathedral door
way up on the umpteenth floor
where devils pluck on harp-like things
while awaiting angel wings.

“For Muir, nature meant the great geological forces and the botanical forces....For Tesla, you might say nature was encountered in a laboratory. And his interest in it revolved around how he could use it and turn it to some sort of practical advantage.”

Nice looking chapeaux MfM. Wish mine still looked that good, but remembering the good times we had. A minor issue to be solved and even less important to piddle time away on.
I'm a stick and ball luddite. Might see if I can pick up the final series when it comes on the am. Time to do the annual deep clean up of the garage.

XYZ, XZlent photo, sir. Very relevlant and you're welcome. I mean, thanks.

I’ve decided to make up my mind
about nothing, to assume the water mask,
to finish my life disguised as a creek,
an eddy, joining at night the full,
sweet flow, to absorb the sky,
to swallow the heat and the cold, the moon
and the stars, to swallow myself
in ceaseless flow.
--Jim Harrison

And I have made up my mind
to decide about final plans:
to assume the dirt mask,
or to avoid it by becoming a burnt offering.
Plant me and I'll molder,
feeding only worms.
Burn me and mix me with water instead.
Then sprinkle me in a vegetable garden,
when and if it's convenient.
It doesn't have to be at night, necessarily.
But if it's after dark,
wear a headlamp, okay?
And don't step on feeding rabbits
or earthworms silently casting.
It might be fun to become rabbit food
as well as nourishment for worms.
God knows I've eaten my share of both.
You might mix in some Beano in with the ashes,
just to be safe.
