Yep! My first published story was in Idaho Magazine in May 2012.

In our May issue, out now, Idaho climber Ray Brooks photo-documents his adventures in following legendary mountaineers Fred Beckey, Pete Schoening, and Jack Schwabland's epic 1949 climbs in the Sawtooth Mountains. Ray quotes from Schwabland's account of the trip, and adds his own photos and stories. Don't miss it!

As we see, the rift is rife with misplaced emotional baggage,

inexplicably I've been caught up in your tragedy .

Some angels come and some go

what they look like to those who can see them (may need them?)

May disgust or hurt to see,

So those souls continue turning away

From the mirror image that is.

An image that they know is there

That they don't want to see

The Trials Of Cosmic & Gotd,

is a story I'm working on,

Because it cross so many 'Ts' along my path.

A story that may have legs

Chapters?

thanks for the inspiration

I'll keep it to myself.

Poria is a mushroom-like fungus that belongs to the Polyporaceae family.

It generally grows around pine trees and is a well-known herb in Asia.

Poria has been used extensively in Chinese medicine for decades because
of its medicinal value.

Although it varies in color from white to a pale red, the typical poria is light brown in color,
with linear marks on the outer skin. It is odorless, slightly elastic, and soft to touch.

This herb is generally cut into pieces lengthwise, dried, and then used in medicinal preparations.

Not only is it beneficial to overall health but it also helps treat and cure a myriad of illnesses.

Nutritional Information and Properties

Poria mushroom contains significant amounts of polysaccharides, tetracyclic triterpenes,
and lecithin -
that have powerful antiviral, anti-tumor, sedative, and immuno-stimulant properties.
I mix it with a Tumeric & Ginger root tea.

These are helpful in managing a number of physical and mental ailments.

Poria is also a rich source of minerals like potassium, zinc, iron, chitin, vegetable proteins,
essential amino acids and vitamins that are well known to be important for maintaining good health and vitality.

Some of the other major elements found in poria include glucose, choline,
fat, sterols, beta-pachyman, and a number of organic acids like tumulosic acid,
eubricoic acid, hydroxylanosta, and pinicolic acid.

Drinking the juice that is the by-product of kombucha mushroom re-generation
has been a debated . Antidotal ly it reduces hang-overs,
helps in reducing aches from hard climbing, It adds something.

'Scobies', the term for the mushroom, which is a slick rubbery pancake-like item, are available.
They must be fresh and wet, submerged in a bit of the juice & sold or better given in 'zip-lock baggies.

Then by adding Sugar water and Black tea,( how to make kombuchu ) the original 'pancake'
will form another 'clone' this new 'Scoby' then gets the same treatment.
The juice that is formed is. What you drink.

Witless near a Star
(with edits)

Between life
And all its vagaries
I cannot see beyond
The little things
That haunt me
And are in the way
Of any chance
At harmony

When doubt and
Indecision clouded vision
Life continued
On without me
Now I see
Yes now I see
How disingenuous
I can be

In leu of that
I would not be
In other manners
Living free
Self imposed
In exile here
With false notions
Of integrity

Now I ask
This much of me
At the cusp
Of sixty trips
Across the sea
Of space and time
Beyond the nearest
Star I'll be

For what purpose
Do I serve
When in time
I will not be?
What am I
Beyond a heartbeat
To others that
Are close to me?

In life with
All its vagaries
I cannot see
Beyond the little things
In the way
Of peace of mind
And any chance
Of harmony

Dear and Glorious Dispensing Dipso -
The cure sounds wonderful, but what, exactly does it cure?
You failed to say.

This leads me to believe you may not have all your ducks in a row, oars in the water, etc.; or are under stress yourself and therefore not reliable.

And believe me that I don't hate you, either.

But I am inclined to ignore your advice on mushrooms for two reasons:
A. I have already had to abandon their use in another herbal treatment provided by my acupuncturist in Berkeley on the basis of my personal physician's pooh-poohing the idea.
B. I have no ready cash with which to procure said items.

This is not to say I don't want anything to do with you. That's pretty drastic, though, being "fired" by CC.

I wonder, though, is that the same as being on his list? I'm not sure I want a list, and I've done without one so far, so there's no need for one, and so that's not a problem.

But I am the boss of this thread and must ask you to refrain from baiting Ser Cosmici on this thread, for that is what you're doing.

You are literally doing the same as Egghead did in the cartoon where he baited the lion in his cage.
Thank you anyway.

Omar won't like this.
We just cruised merrily, merrily down the road.
We ought to have stopped to see did he have his phone, at least.
For once, I was carrying mine.
It only dawned on me later.
I'm only human.

Been mulling over this all day.

I'm not a friggin' nursemaid. I'm not the thread police.

I'm just a guy trying to lay down some entertainment and education.

Myself and this thread are here not to f*#k with people's heads about their personal lives or make stupid remarks about their spouses.

We are here to help them improve their lives and humor. Gnome, you are not helping at all. You divide, when I seek to unite.

You can consider yourself effectively banned from this thread.

You cannot expect to get by by trying to explain away your runaway mouth and boorish, in-your-face attitude, for you never give adequate apology when called out. You actually try to defend the behavior you decry in our lame-ass president.

This won't do. Please just go someplace else to post your Garbled Gassy Garbage.

I still don't hate you, you understand, but if you don't, that's too bad.

Mouse, I don't mean to mess up your thread with this post. I just want to be clear to Gnome, as far as my DELETED post to another thread this morning.

Gnome, I DO have a lot of respect for your climbing HISTORY, if you are who I think you are.

I DO NOT, however, have respect for many of your rude posts on the Taco. Get a grip, or some help! Am not sure what's going on for you.

Mouse, I'll delete this in awhile. Sorry for the distraction and have a great day! Time for me to get outside now.

edit - Gnome, it seems the climbing community really banded together and came to your aid when you had your accident 7 years ago.

So please, own some responsibility and show respect for this same group of people when you post.

Mouse, I'll leave this post intact, per your request, if I understand correctly.

To myself as an aside:

For all my fancy words I know I am not very good at living up to them.

But I try hard to be mindful but it is sometimes harder to do than I try.

It may be harder for others.

I must try to forbear more.

More forbearance may bear more fruit.

Oh, Mr. Natural, what is it with me?

I must pray to the Four Bears for guidance.

Air Bear, Fair Bair, Hair Bear, and Bare Bear, what is it with the me in others that makes me lack forbearance?

Do I hate myself so?

Frog Man Bee

If one has a Gift for Gab
He has been kissed by the bees

Among these souls are St. Ambrose,
Pindar and Plato and Socrates

The drone bee has the best eyesight in the hive
Its eye has a range of vision of 360 degrees

Unlike the frog in his pond
Who ducks under even if he thinks he sees enemies
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HBwqiq1PN0E
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3B9k6ysiZw0

We can lean on each other
This is all we need to know

If the Bee Gees are not to your liking...[Click to View YouTube Video] Now I feel like I'm getting somewhere.

Like, for example,

We're all standing around with coffee and weed outside of Dan Ake's van,
talking about climbing plans for the day.
We'll go here and take him.
And they'll go there, with him.
Then after that we'll all meet back here.

But we never do.

Instead, we're all sitting in front of monitors
with various comestibles and intoxicants.
Thinking "Such a dork."
They should do this.
He should try that.
Some good is bound to come of it, right?

On average, though, I wonder...
