Got a couple manzanita dream catchers from Neebee for the raffle. Really cool.

Have a local artist who donated a really cool, ceramic, casts of local plant life. Will upload that pic and neeb's catchers later.

If you feel like bringing an item, by all means, feel free.

Sorry, sorry, sorry....I hate to bail, especially with old buddy Chappy attending. I have a commitment to help with a fund raiser in Telluride that I need to do.
Have fun everyone and if there is a repeat I WILL be there.

Bummer Jim. Talked to Chappy a couple days ago and he said you couldn't make it. Leaving your name on the list to draw the crowds:-)

Hopefully you make it up this way soon.

Getting excited. Will post these signs to follow from rock creek.

After going back and forth on this for the past couple of weeks, I'm afraid that I must decide to pass on this event, due to family obligations. This is the third time I've tried to get to Shuteye and I haven't made it yet! Looking forward to photos of the get-together to get me stoked to finally make it before too long.

Bummer Handcrack. Would it help if I posted some pics before? Haha, no worries, you'll make it up here soon enough.

The temperatures are looking great. Should be 60s-70s, winds pick up around noon daily so bring a jacket and bright colors for pics. Also, bring water. There is a spring at the bottom of Rock Creek rd and should be some filterable water up there, but no guarantees.

I'd like to attend, but there is the ride thing, as usual. I'll make inquiries with some folks and let you know what's up.

I have more excellent books to raffle, too, as a way to contribute.

I'm likely to be arriving on Thursday night, and am a little confused about finding the way at night. Where exactly is the camping? Take 7S02? 8S09?

Urizen, I'll be at the Rock Creek Campground by Thursday night. If you are arriving after dark and don't want to drive into the main camp at night, you could probably get a campsite there for the one night. On the recreation.gov website. It's the one listed for the Sierra national forest.
See you soon,

Here are the directions again, from the guidebook:

Brown’s Meadow Rd (7S02) directions:

Allow one hour from North Fork.

From North Fork, take the Mammoth Pool Rd (aka Road 225 aka Minarets Rd) east out of town and past the old mill, heading towards Mammoth Pools. At about 22-23 miles, before the pullout for Mile High Overlook, you pass Rock Creek Campground on the right. Three-quarters of a mile past the campground and before the road actually crosses Rock Creek, a major intersection on your left is dirt road 7S02 to Brown’s Meadow.

Fifty yards past the intersection there is a drinking water spring on the left.

Turn left on 7S02 and follow it about 7 miles until you can see Big Sleep Dome on the right. A small dirt road on the right leads to the right (south) side of Big Sleep Dome drainage and Shuteye Pass trail. Keep your eyes peeled because the turn, in the middle of a right-hand curve, is easy to miss if you are driving fast. This final short road is a bit rocky so drive carefully to avoid flats.

A large open area to your right on the way is the main camping area.

Well, that was a short-lived hope, my wishing to visit with you all.

No ride, story of my life.

I will throw my thumb out on this internet highway, though, just in case someone coming from my direction has a little room in their vehicle.

P.M. if doable.
