We are creating mountain lifestyle headwear company that makes high-quality merino wool beanies and caps for skiers, mountain bikers, snowboarders, skaters, surfers, and anyone who lives the mountain lifestyle. We're just getting started and need a name for our brand - enter your ideas for a name and if we choose your entry, you win a $25 gift card to BackCountry.com

missing an 'a' in the site description.

BVB says grammar counts.

asking us for what your identity is, is really weird.

You can do better than that.

Just a squirrel trying to get a nut. Simply for letter "a".

Good luck with your venture. I probably wouldn't name it munge hats. Otherwise, sorry, no other suggestions. Welcome to the taco.

First post ever and it's a post for a company we know nothing about?

Not harsh at all, just calling it like I see it.

Maybe it's on overseas sweat shop selling imported beanies.

What I do know is they are posting on every board!

But if they are serious, as opposed to a fly by night operation looking to bilk top dollar for cheap low grade beanies, then they should tell us who they are. They should have a mission statement or at least an About Us page.

Hell, it's probably not even real. It's probably just a lead generation website sucking in personal information, then you get farmed out to Outside magazine's mailing list.

Doing a "contest" to try and get low cost company names, product names, logos etc. is a super lame way to try and avoid professional creative.

You wind up with loads of lame ideas and most likely, not what you want.

It's like putting monkeys in front of typewriters to create a novel.

If you want the right name for your company, if you want to succeed, hire a professional.

I have worked in advertising for 30 years. I've been on creative teams doing naming, logos, brand development etc. I know from experience that it takes many hours of work to create a name (Even if the winner is an early idea).

It's actually a rip off. If one of these people did come up with a super successful name for you company and you only paid them $25, you would be a total ass. Like one of those really bad capitalist as#@&%es who harvest the good works of others without taking care of them.

Well, I enjoy creative brainstorming, but yeah....seems like people will probably be getting solicited.

This is tangential, but this morning I actually came up with and idea for a hat company! The name was Tinfoil Hats, and it would be for someone who makes themed party hats out of a molded tinfoil-type material. Like little green derbys with a printed buckle and shamrock for St Patty's day parties, and things like that. Tagline could be Too busy having fun to be paranoid! Or similar....

But doesn't really seem a decent name for an outdoors headgear company.

I read somewhere that the person who came up with the Nike "swoop" only got $35 for it. But that WAS a while ago. Adjust for inflation.

Starting a Beanie company is umm, kinda dumb. I've got like ten winter hats. I bought none of them. Weak market.
