This is a celebration for old friends. I was cleaning out the gear closet and found this old carabiner.


I keep a few random climbing things that no one else would know have tons of significance to me. They remind me of people who have passed.

This carabiner which is an odd Trango 1500kg ultralight carabiner was given to me by the Swiss climber Aischan Rupp in Yosemite in the mids 90's. He was a fantastic aid climber and responsible for bringing short fixing to Yosemite big wall speed climbing. He was one of the nicest climbers I have ever met. He unfortunately died on the Matterhorn not long after I met him.
